I'm working on my sound, and everything is fine...except the drums!
I mean, they sound fine, BUT I can't get them higher in the mix:ill: They just sound so blurry(especially the snare and kick) and I don't know what to do anymore....I think the compression fucks it up or something!!

here's the mp3 so you can hear it yourself: http://members.home.nl/r.basic/html/ismar - opeth10.mp3

and here's the yousendit link: http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2DH0TC5PT5KSN0MISSKZTB7IBS

It's DFHS btw!!

So what can I do to let them sound more ...noticable!
Thanks,

Ismar

No, that's not the point....I tried that, but then It sounds fucked up.
I really want the guitars to dominate the mp3. And I know there has to be a way to let the drums sound more noticable...dang, I can't describe it haha...

anyway, thanks...

I'll try that.
The drums aren't compressed, but the mix is...but I know what you mean!!

thanks!

Try individually comressing the kick, snare, toms, overheads & room. Be gentle, though. That should get things slamming.

Like most have said here allready, get a compressor on the kick, snare, etc..
And yeah, the compressor on the master buss makes it all sound a bit weird..

You got the guitars down though, they sound great allready!

Try turning the overheads/ cymbals down and/or try adjusting the mastering, as the cymbals seem to pump the mix a bit. if the drums still arent the way you want, turn the cymbals down a bit more, and then turn the guitars down a TINY bit- i know you dont want to, but once you master it right, they will still be up front.
