CRYPTOPSY Calls It Quits

Montreal's CRYPTOPSY has revealed that they have decided to postpone all future CRYPTOPSY performances and the release of the group's forthcoming album, "The Unspoken King", Drummer Flo Mounier had this to say:

"Due to the current circumstances of the fans being unable to comprehend our new material, we have decided to call it quits. It should be said, however, that this will probably not be permanent, but we shall see. For we, the band, feel that the fans deserve from us something that they can appreciate no matter how closed minded they may be, and as such we have failed to deliver such to them, it is our obligation to quit and reevaluate the situation and take stock of our lives. We did not wish to alienate our entire fan base, let alone do it before the album even hit the shelves, but alas that is exactly what we have done. As such we have decided that the best thing to do at the moment is to drop off the SUMMER SLAUGHTER TOUR and postpone the release of our new album "The Unspoken King", possibly forever. We are very sorry if some of you were looking forward to seeing us on tour, but it must be said that as a band, the reaction we got from the leaked songs was not positive at all and it was felt that the same reaction would probably occur out on tour. Therefore, we have decided to not continue on with our current tour and album commitment. Again, we are sorry and want to thank ll the loyal fans for years of buying our stuff and going to see us live despite the line up changes we've had over the years!"

CRYPTOPSY's last studio album, "Once Was Not", was released in 2005 via Century Media Records and has sold 77,000 copies world wide.

I heard one of the new tracks, and it was AWFUL.

It's deathcore, essentially. They were listening to a little too much JFAC when they were writing it. It's not a failure to comprehend, its a failure to write an original song. What whiny cocksuckers... "Waah, waah, early listeners don't like our material, lets quit!"

I find "None So Vile" to be over-fellated drivel of the lowest common denominator. The hell with these Crypt for a Cowboy wah-wahs.
The band's old school faithful will soon chastise them for being sellouts, and we will never EVAR have to hear the band discussed A-Gain! :Smokin:

Honestly, this review from M-A says it all. It's tersely worded in much the same way you'd write a beer review.

Forged from the worst elements of NYDM and unleashed without thought or mercy upon an unsuspecting world, "None So Vile is one of those records counted among the classics by those who enjoy migraines. Hideously dissonant and jarringly atonal, mixed raw and rusty (but with brain piercing treble spikes to ensure the onset of Excedrin Headache No. 666). The usual assortment of blindingly fast, grating tremolo riffs and "technical" blast and fill drumming over amorphous structures replete with sudden (and pointless) tempo and riff changes just to remind you that these are skilled players. The expected generic vomitvox rears its head. Occasional reversions to a simple, midpaced power chord chug serve (I guess) as "payoff" for sitting through the blasting (but really, who needs to wait for such "payoff" so long as From Beyond is still available). Oh, and lots of slap bass. Assholes love slap bass. Apparently, assholes also love this band. Like Cryptopsy, assholes fucking suck.

The band was never one of my favorites. I could sit down and listen, but nothing I'd have a circle jerk over.

Anyway, I laughed when SMN posted about their new track and the title of the article was "Cryptopsy posts new (awful) track".

eehhhh Jerry you made that up right? I just checked the band's website and there's nothing like this. And if they really break up, I really doubt Flo would use such a way of explaining themselves.

Blabbermouth.net

Aye aye, may have been a ruse, the website has since taken down the article. Is that site like wikipedia where any Tom, Dick, or Harry, can upload some news?!?

So at it stands right now, Cryptopsy may or may not have broken up.

ehh that's pretty ironic... I checked metal-rules.com yesterday and on their "news page" they mentionned cryptopsy releasing a new track on their myspace page.

Haha, if you made it up... Kudos.

All I've seen around the net regarding their new material is hate, aside from one guy who said "OMG ITS LIEK JFAC. U ROOL!", so I wouldn't doubt the fact that the hate is getting to their heads.

And if they really break up, I really doubt Flo would use such a way of explaining themselves.

The last thing I could find Flo via a quick search about the new material:

"In his response to Sam, Flo wrote, "[I'm] very disappointed to see how closed-minded some of our fans are. We started extreme metal and now we are doing it even more then before, extreme dynamically. When you listen to the full album, you will understand or not. Never has CRYPTOPSY been soo fast and agressive and at the same time generated feel in metal songs, wow. Not an achievement to you, it seems, but something extremely hard to do. If you get it or not, that's up to you, but people judge fast and I can guarantee that if you open your mind a little, you'll understand and be in awe. No change, then just vote for Bush again while you're at it. You know, [I'm] not an angry person by nature, but god, open your ears.""

Sounds like he'd explain it like that :p

oh well :loco:

I lifted the report from another forum. Why does everyone blame me for every farce that transpires on the internet?!?

BTW- Susperia is one of my fake accounts.

I give it a 3 because it should happen... and it caught me off guard as I strolled in the house without taking the time to look for sources.
