Still Life is one of those albums you have to appreciate listening alone by yourself at night with your choice of weed/whisky/beer on very expensive cans/speakers and just listen through the whole way. It's not fast food music, that's for sure.

These are more or less in order (PT's FOABP being my all time favourite):

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet
Nevermore - This Godless Endeavour
Opeth - Blackwater Park
Meshuggah - Nothing
Death - The Sound of Perseverance
Cryptopsy - None So Vile
Jason Becker - Perpetual Burn
Arch Enemy - Burning Bridges
Dream Theater - Awake
Necrophagist - Epitaph
The Black Dahlia Murder - Miasma

+1, I got a pair of Grado SR60's for Christmas and the first thing I did was put on Still Life. I still want to try and find someone who has a decent 5.1 system so I can listen to the other Jens Bogren-mixed CD. Nice to have just for the book-like Digipack packaging though.

I just realized that a list of albums that have really blown me away from start to finish is not that long:

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Scar Symmetry - Holographic Universe
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
System Of A Down - Hypnotize/Mesmerize
Nightwish - Century Child
Dream Theater - Awake
Megadeth - Countdown To Extinction

Not in any order...

Pink Floyd - The Wall
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Anthrax - Among the Living
Carcass - Necroticism
Death - Spiritual Healing
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Radiohead - OK Computer
Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
Opeth - Damnation
Meshuggah - Destroy Erase Improve
King Crimson - Thrak
Frank Zappa - All of them!

134017 plays since 22 Jan 2005 o_O

Oh, I didn't know Last.FM had an overall album list too. It paints a bit different picture:

I don't know how that is calculated though, ie. how it takes into account songs skipped, or played twice, or shuffle playing, etc.

I don't know, but I really think that that Major Label album IS pretty kickass :D

Oh ya and I have to add Death - Symbolic also since Chuck gave my buds and I a tour of Morrisound while he was laying the guitar tracks! I think he said Suffocation were in the other room recording also. Chuck was really cool to us. We just went up and knocked on the door and he took us right in. I have a picture of us standing in the control room in front of the board... I'll have to search for it if anyone wants to see.
