just found out that my sensitone elite actually is a black beauty...
apparently Ludwig let the patent protection slip and pearl built the same snare with that model...explains why it sounds so fantastic

you know there are TONS of black beauty copies?

difference is the BB is SPUN, the pearl and all others are sheet metal that is welded.

still a great snare!

mine is spun, too...but it's not the regular model, and I think it's discontinued now.
I compared it to the "standard" sensitones (which are great also), but it wasn't really a comparison, my elite custom came out on top EASILY..

well, you'll usually always be able to see it from the outside as well, but yes, I'll do the inside for you the next time I change the heads

but I'm pretty sure there's no seam either

Sustain is crucial to make the snare smack. Andthe mix always kills a bit of the sustain. so if you don't got any sustain from the start then the snare will be thin as fuck when the mix is done
