Ok, the thread about the bands logos inspired me to create this one.

Your favorite album covers. Have you ever bought the CD, just because you liked the cover, and have you been disappointed? What role does it play in band's reputation? And does it matter to you at all?

Sodom - Ten Black Years, Megadeth - Rust In Peace, Iron Maiden - Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, and Brave New World

They are some of my favourites, im sure there are loads more. Maiden as a whole probably have the best album covers though.

no, but if I see an album cover from a band I haven't heard that I think looks good, I will be more likely to go check them out.

What role does it play in band's reputation?

I don't think it really makes any difference at all to a band's reputation, take Darkthrone for example, typical boring black metal album covers, but nobody really cares.

And does it matter to you at all?

I like it if a band makes an effort, but it wouldn't bother me too much if they just printed blank covers with the name of the band and album on.

I like this one

as well. It is fairly similar to Asmodeus' cover.

The one album I can think of that I bought purely on the album cover art is Destoying Divinity - Hell Unleashed. It payed off well

I am also a fan of the deadbody scapes drawn by Jon Zig.
