This album is absolutley amazing! The vocals here are out of this world & King really shines on this release. Killer basswork as well! This is by far the best Mercyful release in the discography.

King always comes first...
but my musical tastes are quite varied, so don't jump to any conclusions reguarding diversity in my selections, however it's safe to say Iam a freak when it comes to these bands. :D

Here are some honorable mentions:

Iced Earth - Night Of The Stormrider
Iron Maiden - Piece Of Mind
Grave Digger - Tunes of War
Grave Digger - The Grave Digger
Judas Priest - Stained Class
Helloween - Walls Of Jericho
Helloween - Keepers 1 & 2
Death - Individual Thought Patterns
Death - Sound Of Perseverance
Control Denied - Fragile Art Of Existence

Here's a bunch of my favourites (not top 5 because that's to hard for me :D ) in no order.

Iron Maiden: Piece Of Mind
Iron Maiden: Number Of The Beast
Therion: Secret Of The Runes
Therion: Deggial
Megadeth: Peace Sells
Megadeth: Rust In Peace
Rainbow: Rising
Iced Earth: Night Of The Stormrider
Jag Panzer: Mechanized Warfare
Demons & Wizards: s/t
Blind Guardian: Nightfall In Middle Earth
Blind Guardian: Imaginations From The Otherside
Death: Individual Thought Patterns
Death: Human
Demonoid: Riders Of The Apocoalypse (just picked this one up, so good!)
Mercyful Fate: Don't Break The Oath
Black Sabbath: Master Of Reality
Symphony X: The Odyssey
High On Fire: Surrounded By Thieves

There's also several runner ups
My favourite bands are therion and Iron Maiden though.

Judas Priest - Unleashed In The East
Kreator - Coma Of Souls
Jag Panzer - Ample Destruction
Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends

Yes, I know, my best lists change often. :p

Whenever someone asks me what my top 10 would be, I can never choose. But I have always tried to think of the 10 CDS I would most want to have if I could only have 10 CDS for the rest of my life. At the moment, I think these would do (and in NO particular order):

Anthrax - Among the Living
Blind Guardian - Imaginations From the Other Side
Judas Priest - Painkiller
Iron Maiden - 7th Son
Jag Panzer - Thane to the Throne
Iced Earth - Stormrider
Megadeth - Rust In Peace
Slayer - Seasons
3 Inches of Blood - Advance and Vanquish
Ozzy - No Rest for the Wicked

I generally would try and pick 10 of my favorite bands, that way I would have something different to listen to all the time.

Then I'd get pissed when I remembered another CD I really liked. :tickled:

Honorable mentions:
Blind Guardian - A Night At the Opera *and* Nightfall in Middle Earth
Ozzy - Ozzmosis
Jag Panzer - Mech and\or Casting
Manowar - Kings of Metal

And probably a mix CD of Rush, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, and ZZ Top just for those lighter moments
:loco:

I took a stab at narrowing down a top 5 list this morning. Here we are:

1. Megadeth - Rust In Peace
2. Iron Maiden - Powerslave
3. Dream Theater - Images And Words
4. Helloween - Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part I
5. Metallica - ...And Justice For All

Killers - Maiden
Triumph Of Steel - Manowar
Mechanized Warfare/Thane - JP
Chemical Wedding - Bruce Dickinson
Glorious Burden - Iced Earth
Heaven & Hell - Black Sabbath
Alive - Kiss (okay technically "hard rock")
House Of Atreus - Virgin Steele
Operation Mindcrime - Queensryche
The Odyssey - Symphony X

1. Hazzard: Hazzard (long-forgotten gem w/ Herman Frank:worship:
2. Black Sabbath: Heaven And Hell
3. Iron Maiden:Iron Maiden, Killers
4. Yngwie Malmsteen's Rising Force: Marching Out
5. Jag Panzer: Ample Destruction

Those are my top five among albums that I think are indisputably metal. Then, there's lots of marginally metallic old stuff that I love, like the old Scorpions albums w/ Uli Roth, plus anything by UFO, Thin Lizzy, Deep Purple, Rainbow and Crack The Sky. Also, Silver Mountain weren't that heavy, but man, they were f*cking brilliant!
Full respect to the Masters of Metal Craft!
