Your top six albums

I find Morbid Angel and Death waaaaaaaay overrated, so it is a matter of opinion to the extreme. Atmosphere will always beat out riffs and technicality.

Ok... please explain. Altars of Madness and the old Mantas demos along with Into the Pandemonium and Scum are responsible for creating extreme metal. If all you had heard was possessed and kreator, Altars of Madness was a fucking revelation. No atmosphere? Wow... just... don't even know what to say. Does anyone who remembers grabbing SBG or Altars back in the late 80's actually feel this way too?

The bands are important that is for sure, I will NOT deny that but what I will say is that I find them nowhere near as good musically as people make them out to be.

Isn't this mostly just a stylistic bias? Look you'll have to trust me. Death and Morbid Angel are to death metal like disembowelment and thergothon are to whatever it is they call what you listen to (post sabbath apocalyptic funeral doom/death? or something) There's a reason people mention them a lot. And you might want to give that evoken disc a few more years before annointing it better than albums that are still influencing bands after 15+ years...

Finally someone who thinks what I think. I agree with you they are way overrated. I do listen to them and like them but man they aren't as good as everyone says they are.

UMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............ ......NO

Yes without the um. The Mantle brings tears to my eyes whenever I listen to how beautiful the instrumentation is. The only other bands that have done that to me is In Flames, Children Of Bodom, and Katatonia.

The first 5 morbid angel cds are some of the best metal albums out of the US easily.

you're an idiot if you think Children Of Gaydom are better than Morbid Angel.

Lately it's been:

Incubus - Serpent Temptation
Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
Saint Vitus - Saint Vitus
Pentagram - Relentless
Katatonia - Brave Murder Day
Katatonia - Discouraged Ones

In no particular order:
1. Dissection-Storm of the Light's Bane
2. Agalloch-The Mantle
3. Satyricon-Dark Medieval Times
4. Blood Freak-Live Fast, Die Young... And Leave a Flesh-Eating Corpse!
5. Frightmare-Bringing Back The Bloodshed
6. Entombed-Left Hand Path

Yeah. I saved it in case I wanted to use it as a template to make my own, but I decided I like my current one better.
