Ok, I knew this was "Parallels" from Yes's "Going for the One"...but who are these guys? And where did they get just the organ track? That's obviously not White, Squire and Howe.....or is it?

Holy crap! I take that back. I can tell at the end (first by finally seeing Wakeman) that THAT IS Squire. Howe's hair is in front of his face the whole time, so I couldn't tell. Wow. Great video!

LOL! Here's Wakeman during the same session acting very much like he's in a Monty Python skit.

I recognized Howe and Squire, but not the song. It sounds like that bit must have been mixed by Squire. He was the only instrument you could hear clearly.

Wakeman's use of that large Church organ was really cool. I have watched this video no less than 50 times over the last year I think. Going For The One was such a cool album....

He was always up in the mix. "On Lead Bass, Chris Squire!!" lol I was so into Yes at this time... I was right in the middle of high school, and I went to the Going For The One Tour in 77.

Side note: Donovan opened up for them haha! He was actually pretty good...

For those who are not familiar with Irish folk music, this is the best of the best! This is Liam Clancy from The Clancy Brothers with Tommy Makem. I can't even count the hours of music I own by them.

This song just breaks my heart, but I love it so much. It's an old Australlian song about war and it's effects.

Please give it a listen. It's very fitting even today. The lyrics are just amazing.

Wow... That was pretty heavy. I'm not a fan of Hogarth, but that was a beautiful song. The guitar solo was awesome.

I didn't know about the story, but... At the time, all they found of Campbell (pilot) was his oxygen mask, shoes and helmet. His body wasn't found until 2001.

How can you not be a fan of Hogarth? The guy has an amazing voice! that video wasn't even put together by the band a fan just pieced that together with stock footage. There is an interview about how Steve Hogarth and I think Steve Rothery were invited down when they recovered more of the wreckage. They got to meet Campbell's widow.

here is some classic Hogarth for you.... watch it an love it! :kickass:

I agree Gary. There are so many people who just don't "get" Hogarth's voice and passion. His voice is definitely NOT an easy one to get used to, but when I first got Season's End knowing Fish was gone, I expected them to be waaaay too different for me to like anymore. I was right about the "waaaay too different", but that album was soooo powerful and so emotional, I fell in love with Hogarth's voice immediately. Brave is the best thing they've done with him, but he sings with so much passion I have favorites on all of their releases. Splintering Heart, The Party and One thousand one nights (from Holidays in Eden), Afraid of Sunlight, Out of this World and Afraid of Sunrise (Afraid of Sunlight), Living the Big Lie, Runaway, Goodbye to all that, Brave, The Great Escape, and Made again (Brave), Easter, Seasons' End, Berlin, After Me, The Space (Season's End), Angelina, Neverland, The Invisible Man and Ocean Cloud (Marbles), A Legacy, Go, and Interior LuLu (Marillion.com), Sympathy (Six and One half dozen), This Strange Engine, Memory of Water (This Strange Engine....the list goes on and on.....his voice is so powerful and soulful in these above listed songs. I could probably list a dozen more. I love his voice.

Rooster, that video makes it so easy for me to understand how you are always able to put so much emotion into the stuff you write. That influence is very present in your own talent. Simply amazing video and song.

Looks like White , Squire, Howe and Wakeman , I liked the Winter Frakenfun , Derringer and the band was awesome.

I have been in that church , the colums in the walls have pipes the whole freakin building is huge and sounds amazing , I have pictures but I can't remember where the hell it is due to constant travel but I sat and listened to a man playing and the way the sound comes from different places and the building creates a giant instrument, is unbelievable.

Are you aware of a thing called personal preference? I love Dani Filth's and Shagrath's voices:headbang:, but I don't push them on anybody else. It's all about what moves you, personally.

Koelling tried for ages to get me to like Hogarth, but it didn't take. Hogarth's voice just doesn't appeal to me. When he joined the band, they stopped being Marillion, in my opinion. Fish and his influence on the band made them what I loved. No big deal. I just don't buy their music any more.

Keeping in mind: Their worst record will sell 10,000 times more than my best record ever will. So clearly, my opinion is worth a pile of shit.

Same exact thing here. Fish was what I loved about Marillion..when he was gone, so was my love for them. *shrug*

Very cool! Thanks dude. That music touches me.

I wanted to cover that song for a while, but I can't get through it without sobbing. Both Liam Clancy and Tommy Makem have songs like that. They have a way with sad songs.

Fish was amazing! I still love Misplaced Childhood!!!

However, I've noticed that his solo material is really lacking what Marillion brought to him. They were a great team. Too bad they didn't realize that. I'll keep that in mind next time I wanna kill Koelling!:lol: The team is everything.

Although I agree with the "personal preference" thing, I still know the power of listening to something "at the right time". It's like going and seeign a movie and being in a certain mood. That mood could make or break the movie for you. Paul Lamb hated Hogarth because he saw both Fish and Hogarth as Marillion's lead man at live shows. He honestly said, "If I had never saw him live first I still may love that band." As I said above, when I heard Season's End it unexpectedly aught me off guard and that particular album at the part of my life has so much meaning, his voice is simply "accepted" by me in a way that he can't do wrong. I made the mistake of assuming that the same magic would be captured when you heard it and maybe forced him on you too much. But, then again, you never forced Danny Filth on me and I still have a hard time digesting him (love the keys though, LOL).

To each his own. I think Gary was more in shock (like I was when I first heard someone say they didn't like his voice) because the music is far more emotional now with Hogarth in it. I get the best of both worlds because Fish's version of Marillion was more progressive and his lyrics were far more profound and metaphoracle (is that even a word? It's like an oracle who uses metaphors, LOL), while Hogarth just has a style that moves me way down inside. I love them both. Come to think of it....putting Kayleigh/Lavender up against The Great escape would be very difficult for me to choose.

Damn.

Thanks for sharing that, Steve.

Ahh yes, my favorite Marillion cd. :)

Yeah, I think his solo stuff has been a lot more hit or miss than his Marillion material..I did love Raingods With Zippos, what an awesome cd, but haven't found all of his stuff to be as solid.

I'll keep that in mind next time I wanna kill Koelling!:lol: The team is everything.

Put down the butcher knife, Roostah! ;)
