YouTube gems

Y&T has got to be one of my all time fav bands. They still play frequently down in the Bay Area. I really want to get down and catch them live. Saw them live in 1985 at a festival in Oakland, and they kicked most of the other band's asses. Nobody else sounds like Dave Meneketti.

It's hard to tell who is playing with Dave in the "This Time" video, but it looks like Phil is still on bass and Leonard might be back on drums. I doubt that that's Joey Alves....but, hey, who knows.

A couple favorites videos from the 80's:

Ronnie James Dio "The Last in Line"

Quiet Riot "The Wild & The Young"

I remember reading about them, when they switched gears from black metal to prog. I love the fact that ICS Vortex is doing the vocals. I do like him better in Dimmu Borgir though, I have to admit.

Interesting vid.

That was funny stuff. Very interesting...and very original.

It's funny how this thread has prompted me to go back and listen (and purchase) a few of my favorite artists from the past. Two weeks ago, when this thread first went up I found myself listening to Blue Murder, Pendragon and Alan parsons. Last week it was all about Yes and Marillion. Now, this weekend it's been Black Sabbath and Y&T. Ahhh....the good ol' days.

Until I saw this last night on In Demand, I thought these guys were kind of a goof. Ya know, just doing Metallica covers. DAMN!!! Was I wrong? I am absolutely amazed!

Apocalyptica!

That was damn cool!! Those orchestra nerds finally found a way to get laid...:)

I see what you mean about the drummer Sorrell, he does remind me a lot of Brian Viglione as well.

Cool shiite!

I can't see this at work (They block you tube) but I'm guessing that it's Apocalyptica...

I think they rock!!:kickass:

They are coming to Slim's in SF in a couple of months... only problem on a Wednesday 2 days before Sym X... I would love to see them...

:cry::lol: I hadn't heard this in a while. It still KILLS me!

There's no official video for this but somebody did a great job here.

This is a live, in a studio, version of The Gourds doin their cover of Snoop Dogg's Gin and Juice. Go the whole 6 minutes if you can. I love every second of it.

Getting off the beaten Metal road... here's a couple from one of the great composers, Kitaro.

Jax and I went to see him up at the Mountain Winery in the Santa Cruz mountains a few years back and it was all quite magical..
