Check it out guys! Did this at my apartment so volume was on 1... not one o'clock but 1 out of ten. So not the full potential of the tone I could get but still I didn't EQ this at all. This is what it sounds like. No boost pedals, no noise gates or post pro. Just the guitar + amp + cab + SM57.

Personally I'm positively surprised how much gain and bass this amp has. Gain was on 6 and bass was on 2. The tone reminds me of a Mesa Mark IV that's been dialed correctly. :) (I've owned 3 Mark IVs) Super tight bass!

Feedback!

I own a screamer but with this amp it didn't change the tone all that much and I preferred simply using the gain knob rather than using a boost. Must be the fact that this amp has loads of mids built in... none of that Recto BS where you can't get a balanced tone without a boost. :) (have owned three Rectos also: Roadster, Dual and Single Recto)

Hmmm. It's kinda flat and lifeless in my opinion. I don't think the low volume is helping really, you can totally hear that the amp isn't cooking.

Not bad at all dude! I like that bare mic and amp sound, pretty clear recording too. Needs more grease, but that comes with volume, and then you may need to use that boost once it gets rolling. The high end bugs me a little, it needs more and less at the same time. That might be the PRS though, never liked the sound of their stock 6s... But seriously, that's about 90% there if you ask me.

You... didn't use match EQ..... did you?

DID YOU!

Haha... thanks for the feedback guys!

Once again, I didn't use ANY post processing. So no EQ, compressors or limiters. NO MATCH EQ! :D This is as real a tone can get. And yeah the volume was on 1 but it's still loud enough to make my neighbors angry. The tone was getting "there" when volume was at 3-4 but could've never done this this video in my apartment that loud. So if you plan to record at home, this might not be the amp for you. I've probably never owned an amp that has this much gain. Having this amp at noon could easily work for metal and gain at 3 o'clock is already in the brootz territory.

I dunno if you guys have played the Rockerverb before but the pick dynamics are insane on these amps. It's like some amps that feel easy to play with when the gain is maxed out but this amp feels like that even on low gain levels. Also single coils sound beefy with this amp and that was kind of the deal breaker for me. It's kind of if a JCM800 had a baby with Diezel Herbert.

Hmm... no love for the Custom 24? This guitar is pure beef and tasteful articulation.

About the hat... 50% because of the cold 50% because of bad hair day. ;)

Yeah, I love the Rockerverb amps myself. I'm actually thinking of switching to one. I use a Fryette Sig X right now... three channels. Thinking I can just use a pedal to get my 'crunch tones' with a Rockerverb.

I recommend this amp for sure. I didn't really find good clips of this amp on the web and I couldn't try it at a local shop so I didn't really know how it would sound. So what I did was buy it blind folded and I can return it within a month... that's not going to happen though. :)

I'm returning the screamer + ISP Decimator though... ;)

Any info about mic position?

It's really hard to explain where the mic was but almost in the center. Maybe an inch away from the center almost touching the cloth.

Three of the speakers sounded identical but one was maybe a bit darker so I didn't mic the darker sounding one.

Ah, I'm not too far from Orange up in Borehamwood. I went there once and tried out a whole bunch of amps, this was around the time that I was planning on buying a Dual Terror - I got one in the end, but didn't like it too much. But yeah, I've played through the Rockerverb before and loved it.

One of the guys in a band called Orders Of The British Empire, he uses one too. Beastly sound.

by looking at the schematics of the rockerverb 50, it's a somwhat similar design as what ENGL does but with less extreme values and tone shaping (4 gain stages using large cathode caps, strong bass attenuation between stages, no cathode follower). i would expect it to sound somewhat like a more dynamic and open sounding ENGL based on this.

i always thought orange amps were more like fuzzy stoner rock sounding. i'll definitely give these a go next time i have the chance

Got a chance to REALLY crank this amp up today... the tonality changed a lot with volume on 6 or so. All I can say is that the tone is extremely focused. Comfortable but focused. Tight... I'll probably record new stuff ASAP!
