Zakk Wylde or Dime

dimebag will always be my favourite guitarist but zakk is a more schooled player and takes a totally different approach to playing, while dime used to pick every 3rd or fouth not in a solo zakk picks everyfucking note and just smokes on the guitar,2 totally diff guitarists with the same attitude to playing.

I'm sure Dime would get more votes in a poll, but I wonder if that would be the case if he were still with us. Don't get me wrong, I love Dime's playing, but whenever a musician dies, he's automatically givin legend status.

Whilst I'm a big fan of Dime's leads, I think it's utterly shocking that he and Pantera got off with totally ripping off Exhorder so badly. Dime even changed his sound to suit the new sound they 'adopted' for Cowboys.

what the fuck has your band done mate?
if u must know they were only young when they started and were really just emulating there idols, its only when phil got on board that they really knew what direction to take, its called progression,i hate all the pussy assed they copied us trash bullshit talk, crok of shit, yeah zakk wylde is a clone too right?

You're an idiot!

Being young has nothing to do with it. Decapitated and Death Angel were both stupidly young when they started but they didn't feel the need to, literally, steal another band's sound. Thieving and progression are two totally different things but seeing as you're from the Prison Island I can see why you can't see that.

Pantera even did a Black Sabbath cover the album after Exhorder did it!

Oh and Zakk Wylde does sound remarkably like John Sykes (both use Les Pauls and JCM800s) and Zakk even sites Crying in the Rain as one of his favourite songs. It's not like it's unknown for Zakk to be a clone of another guitarist... all you need to do to see that is to see a picture of Rand... I mean Zakk from just before he joined Ozzy.

I've heard both Guitarist play Randy Rhoads solo's too a "T". So its hard for me to say who is better. I think Zakk is a good Guitarist, But i'd have to go with Dime. His music is more memorable than anything Zakk did with Ozzy. Even if he did copy his sound from a band i've never heard of. (Exhorder) They should be happy he stole their sound. So a band with no popularity can now clam "Dimebag stole our sound". It'll be their 15 minutes of fame!! .......mwahahahaha!!!!

hmm id be pretty gutted to be perfectly honest even if it was Dime who thieved it

DIME-better riffs, more grooves .zakk's ok with ozzy but the bls stuff bores the tits off me "chugga chugg chugg yeah chugga chugga arty harmonic yeah"-not for me thanks.Dime ruled the roost and will for a while yet-a huge loss to all us riff rippers.

Hmm, if all you care about is the metal that MTV exposes you to and don't care about underground metal then you're welcome to that line of thought.

I thought Dime was much better. Just his riffs alone blow pretty well any other riffster away. Drag the waters is my kinda tune. His leads were far more intricate and distinguished... you could hear every note. With Zakk I found he made too much fuckin noise. I was not that impressed when I saw Ozzy and heard Zakk butcher some of Randy's solos. Don't get me wrong, Zakk is a killer guitarst and I've had many an argument with many a guitarist over who is better because this IS one of my favorite questions to debate!!
