Zyklon-B - yay or nay

I've been checking their info out on metal archives, and the line-up for this band sounds pretty good!

I haven't heard their music, and I know they're not around any more, but were they good?

Erhm, no, I'm afraid you're wrong GR. Zyklon-B and Zyklon are two completely different bands, with both different members and a different sound. The only link they share is Samoth and the fact that they're both Norwegian extreme metal bands.

Zyklon-B: Cult band that released only one 3 track CDS, entitled "Blood Must Be Shed". It's rather good methinks. The band consisted of (they were just a fun project, not a real "band")

- Frost (Satyricon, 1349) - Drums
- Samoth (Emperor, Zyklon) - Guitars
- Ihsahn (Emperor, Peccatum) - Keyboards
- Aldrahn (Dødheimsgard) - Vocals


Zyklon is the latest band of Samoth. It's more death metal orientated than Zyklon-B. They've released two records, namely "World Ov Worms" and "Aeon". This is the line-up:

- Samoth - Guitars
- Trym (Emperor, Enslaved) - Drums
- Destruchtor (Myrkskog) - Guitars
- Sechtdamon (Myrkskog, Odium) - Vocals and bass

The vocalist on the "World Ov Worms" album was Daemon from Limbonic Art.

I highly recommend both bands, though I prefer Zyklon.

Yeah, I was just going to say - I don't know Zyklon-B, but I do know that they're nothing to do with Zyklon (other than Samoth).

If I had to label them, I'd put the "black metal" tag on them.

Definitely Black Metal. Thin production and very raw. And it kicked ass too. Damn shame they didn't do more material.

Good luck trying to get hold of it other that downloading it for it's been out of print for years.
