I hear where you are coming from because I was the same way when I started. But don't forget that chords have their purpose too. Just don't become one of those people waz talked about that can play some crazy riff but doesn't know what an open A chord is. :)

I'm glad that at lease Moonlapse chose to post here again. I really miss the Opeth covers he used to release every now and then. They were one of the highlights of this forum. Good to see you haven't left UM for good man.

All those bands (with possibly the exception of Black Label Society) have sold far more albums than Opeth. Please define failure in this context. Back on topic, I'd be all for hearing something Peter created all on his own. Who know's what it would sound like.

Hate Me was the first song I heard by them, so I found the video for Lake Bodom and I was hooked.

You can flame if you want but I'd go for the vocals on Blackwater Park over Wreath.

I like AE, I really do, but when I get to about 1:25 into When my vote is cast. It really sets the mood for the rest of the song. And although AE has a kickass outro, When is better as a whole song IMO.

Did waz ever post under a different name? I remember someone else a long while back used to alway sign off with the "PEAC EOUT"

+1 That is THE Opeth moment for me when Mikael screams that part. Never fails to give me the chills. Especially the breakdown leading into it.

I'd have to say that given the song structure and layout I think MAYH is probably the most completely constructed album Opeth has put out. The way that all the songs flow together (even down to the overlapping song titles/lyrics) is beautiful in its composition.

I really thought I was going to vote April Ethereal on this one but after just listening to both of them I'd have to go with When.
