I'm just starting to learn about them. I just bought the cd 'True Kings of Norway' with two of their songs: "My Angel" and "Morax". So far, so good.

Thank you. I have never heard of Popol Vuh. The reason that I ask this question is because of a 30 second sample of a Burzum song that I heard on amazon.com. The song is "Den Onde Kysten"...it sounds so similar.

I apologize in advance if this has already been asked, but what song is it that is being played as Opeth's warmup music at the very beginning of their 'Lamentations' DVD? It's playing as they're coming out on stage to get ready to play "Windowpane".

:bah: I don't have a least favorite. ALL of Opeth's albums are good in their own individual way.

:rock: I was just getting myself ready to type the words "Mikael Stanne" as I panned through the posts, but you beat me to it. He sings with SUCH emotion. Dark Tranquillity is a truly special band. They don't get enough recognition in my opinion.

Everyone is right about the blood disorder. I also read the Opeth interview in the current issue of 'Revolver' magazine. According to that the poor guy also suffers from regular anxiety attacks. Opeth had to reschedule some dates because of it in fact. I hope he'll get better from that as well.

You're right..it is very classical sounding. It almost sounds like something that you would here being played in some centuries-old castle. That's what I always think of when I hear that song. Anders does seem very talented - that song is tough to play I bet. It's very dynamic, and it fits...

I've always been impressed with "Silhouette" from 'Orchid'. I mean here is the debut album from a Swedish metal band. They start off with two crushing epic tracks, and then the third song is solo piano! I always thought that was a cool move. Is that not the epitomy of Opeth?

"Prologue" gives me chills as well. The rain and the piano are awesome! You just know only good things are to come. I really don't understand why someone would purposefully find fault with songs like "Prologue" and "Epilogue". :confused: Hello!!! They are meant to be intros and outros to...

Yeah, I really like "Prologue" as well. The rain and the piano...it's like the calm before the storm.

:worship: "By the Pain I See in Others" is one of my personal all-time favorites by Opeth. I really like the initial vocal effect. Also, the lyrics speak for themselves: "Discard your clothes, Let loose your hair We're intertwined forever and have always been" THAT, my friends, is...

I personally really like GR, and I don't think it's a wrong direction at all. I do have to admit that the whole "let's summon Satan vibe" of "The Grand Conjuration" kind of got on my nerves a little bit at first. I wasn't offended by the occult subject matter itself (I love Dimmu Borgir after...
