Parts of songs that are just extra great!

Iron Maiden - Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son The melody at 8:51 to 9:10 Love this one, it's maybe even my single favourite Iron Maiden moment, and the lengthy build-up to it adds to the anticipation. It's not necessarily the tune itself, but rather the "sound" of it. Metal Church - In...

Parts of songs that are just extra great!

Some sound effects: Astral Doors - In Rock We Trust (from the "Astralism" album) The crowd cheering and cannon sound from 2:44 to 3:02 Bullet - Roadking (from the "Bite The Bullet" album) The car engine from 2:41 to 3:46

Parts of songs that are just extra great!

There's quite a few I can think of. Some spring to mind immediately, a few other I will need to go and listen to the albums to find them. Anyway, here's some Drums that make me shout "Hell Yeah!!" every time I hear them: Fates Warning - One (from the "Disconnected" album) The drums at 0:15...

What is the scariest or most evil sounding album you can think of?

W.A.S.P.'s "KFD" is a really evil album. A one-of-a-kind in their catalogue, but you need to experience the album as a whole, to see how the evilness develops. It's not really a "singles" album like their other stuff. I love the album, but I may be in a minority.

    New forum feedback/sneak peeks

Here's an example of YouTube links still broken, and just displaying as text: Posts 25601 and 25660 in the black metal thread on pages 1281 and 1283. I copied the text into this post, and it sort of corrected them to make them work, so you'll have to look at the original posts to see what they...

    New forum feedback/sneak peeks

New forum looks good, but... I was previously up to about Jan 2014 reading through the Black Metal thread, and it doesn't look like the YouTube links have ported across. Now they just show as text, rather than a link or embedded video. EDIT: Cool, my Rambo avatar picture is finally showing up!

Thanks for posting this Infestus album, I really enjoyed that, it has a very accessible sound for me to get into. Just ordered the CD to add to my small but growing Black Metal collection... :)

I've just discovered Immortal, and am really digging the video of "All Shall Fall" from their last album, although I understand it to be a bit more commercial than their other stuff (which I haven't checked out yet). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOOebk_dKFo

Would you guys be so kind as to suggest some of the main online Black Metal stores for CDs. Amazon and EBay is all I'm used to, but I have built a small list so far of CDs that I can't find listed. I noticed the Panopticon Bandcamp page lists two stores that are carrying their new album, so...

Lunar Aurora are also new for me as well, although I went for the "Hoagascht" CD which arrived yesterday, since I couldn't find a full album of "Andacht" (which gets more recommendations) to listen to on YouTube. However I get the impression from the reviews that "Hoagascht" is slightly lighter...

I'm also a Black Metal beginner, and there seems to be many routes into the genre depending on your tastes. Previously, my only interest in "extreme" music was Slayer and Opeth; everything else I listen to (rock and metal) has clean vocals. It was actually Agalloch's "Marrow Of The Spirit" that...

    Controversial opinions on metal

Articles about Bill Ward keep cropping up on Blabbermouth.net, and whilst the situation is unfortunate, I can't help keep being reminded of that film Office Space where the timid guy is gradually being pushed into obsolescence ... a solitary voice that those above him no longer want to hear, and...

    Metallica complex

Yeah, maybe my opinion on their extreme change in direction after so long would have been more appropriate for the "controversial metal opinions" thread.

"Last two" meaning those last two tracks (5 and 6), and which Goffdahl has now provided me with translations that make more sense.
