Ive been working on a few songs like this lately and im having some trouble with the sampled drums. They are too 'in your face' and all over the mix instead of having a more centered, room sound. Obviously since theyre fake i wont be able to get them to sound completely real but i was wondering...

hey im having trouble getting the kind of kick drum im looking for. the sound that im getting is loud and booming with lots of presence but its lacking the kind of pitter-patter sound. it seems as if there isnt enough "thwap" to the sound. maybe im speaking complete gibberish but if you listen...

haha well i just mixed everything so i could hear each instrument, and the guitar at first was so muddy and bassy because i recorded it at such a low volume with my shape knob cranked, that i mustve overcompensated....thx for the 'suggestion'

so i havent finished writing this song but ive recorded what is written so far....i used my combo crate 120 for the guitars with a 57 becaues im in a dorm room but it actuall sounds alright. the drums are fake imported individually from reason and eq'd in PT's. the bass is a pitch shifted guitar...

he used a beta 58 for the low growls and some mxl condenser for the mids and highs...all the vocals are double tracked and one of the low tracks is pitch shifted down a full step. were using cubase at my drummers studio and i dont believe he has sound replacer or drumagog could some maximizing...

excellent...i think i my drummer is opposed to that kind of stuff i dont know why, im just a gutarist. any ideas on how to break it down to him so hell think its a good idea??

hello my band recently recorded our first track its still in the mixing process...some of the vocal dubs are off and theyre probably too loud but thats up to yall...what should we do to liven up the mix?? the guitars dont seem clear enough or something like that. thanks :notworthy...

i just tracked some guitar tracks for my bands demo and im looking for tips on getting a really good sound, whether that means recording it a different way, or using compression and eq. the way we tracked the guitars is with 2 sm-57's on my mesa cab, one to later be eq'd to bring out highs and...

the drummer i tracked didnt have as many hours as he needed and was satisfied with not so hot performances to the click, so i am triggering the actual drums but using the tracked cymbals and cutting them up and using sampels , so the snare that bled through on the overheads is off time at some...

what frequencies should i roll off of the overheads to eliminate snare sounds? thanks

i disagree ive only heard a few combinations tried out and even with a solid state head the tones were ridiculous....so anyone else?

so what does everybody think would be the ultimate pair of emg's to buy for death metal purposes?
