    Allmusic.com review of Lamentations

Their reviews are really uneven, totally depending on the individual, ranging from professional and insightful to haphazard, ignorant or obsolete, especially in the smaller niche genres.

    PT Question..

If you can stand the wait, they're going to be re-released in a year or so, at least according to what I've seen on their web site (do a search on their news page).

    Opeth on NEMHF dvd

On my copy of the DVD, you can hardly hear the vocals on Opeth, Nevermore, Lacuna Coil, and more. Is this a problem on anyone else's copies? Or did the production company really fuck up the sound mixes? It's so bad you can't enjoy the performances--they're basically only instrumental tracks...

Opeth's Last 3 Albums Have Been Fantastic

I like hearing people's thoughts on this. I heard Still Life first, liked it, but it wasn't until Deliverance that I got totally hooked. Go figure. I'm probably an exception on this. Personally, most of the repetition in Deliverance works for me (except middle sections of Wreath and...

UltimateMetal/SMNnews.com interview questions for OPETH FRIDAY NYC

I'd like top know if and to what extent smoking pot/drinking plays a part in the writing or recording process. Does Mikael smoke a spliff at the beginning when he's coming up with ideas, or while practicing parts, or when revising arrangements, or none/all of the above. Seriously. I'm...

Forgive me for another DVD thread...

I could do without the punters making goat horns during the mellow set, but besides a few distracting audience shots, the editing was ok by me. I don't have a lot of band videos to compare, but the production values seemed top-drawer. Still annoyed at Music for Nations for not securing the back...

DVD no longer available at THE END???

Well, my DVD came yesterday, almost a week after my fulfillment e-mail, which is not great but reasonable I think. I've never had problem with the End, and I've ordered from them 10 or so times.

The End Has Gotten The Dvd!

Has anybody else who pre-ordered NOT gotten a fulfillment? I pre-ordered long ago, but not exactly first thing after it was announced, so maybe I'm too low on the waiting list. FUCK!!!! I feel so unfulfilled.

My 5 favorite bands (bored at work here) what are yours?

Bands, something like, in no particular order: 1 Opeth 2 Kreator 3 Rush 4 Dark Tranquillity 5 I can't decide... maybe Sabbath, but I'm so sick of Ozzy I could puke blood Not that anybody cares about anything but metal here, but solo artists: Bob Dylan Johnny Cash Randy Newman...

Today I got mine from the End. A three day turnaround on the order. So folks in the US, no more waiting!

    Mikael's honesty appreciation thread...

I too appreciate the forthright updates. No PR spin BS. Opeth does a good job keeping the focus on the music, not image, marketing, attitude, histrionics, etc. One part of that integrity is speaking to its fans as peers. (though I must admit his stage banter can sound a little patronizing at...

How and when did you get to know Opeth?

Crimson Floyd, cool to see you listening to Dylan--one of my favorites. A year and a half ago or so I was checking out newer Euro metal bands on Amazon. I'm a late 80's thrash/classic metal guy myself, plus I listen to folk and singer/songwriter stuff. The descriptions of acoustic/metal...

    Opeth's most depresive song......

Tough choice, because while songs may have melancholy, sad, tender, or depressive parts, most Opeth songs have more than one emotion or mood throughout. Dirge for November, Night & Silent Water, Twilight was Robe, Bid you Farewell, Fair Judgement, Rid the Disease, have some of the most...
