Excellent news. Looks like he finally came to his senses and decided he'd had enough, just like Jesper and Daniel before him. The final nail has been in the coffin for years now, and hopefully this is a sign that before long we'll see it lowered into the earth once and for all.

I called it, a return to a heavier, more metalcore-ish vibe a la Come Clarity. Sounds better than Siren Charms, but still pretty squarely middle-of-the-road. Also, supporting A7X and Disturbed, possibly two of the most cancerous pseudo-metal bands of a bygone era... just awful. And the worst...

This is really a point in the band's history where, possibly more than any other junction, the new album could sound like just about anything. It would follow that they realized Siren Charms was an unmitigated piece of shit that garnered not a single response above lukewarm, so maybe it will be...

Are we hearing the same thing? From what I can tell they went WAY overboard with the compression, to the point where everything sounds like a blurry mess. The guitars sound grainy and toothless, not punching through the mix with anywhere near as much power as they ought to, Dan's drums sound...

Especially when his own growls/screams were infinitely better than Anders' ever were. It will forever perplex me why they never once let him do at least some backing vocals, or even taking the helm for a song or two. What a waste.

True. Back when I knew practically nothing of metal, I legitimately enjoyed the albums from Reroute onward. Then I eventually realized they were a bunch of metalcore/emo crap and before long couldn't stand them. Still, there was a very small part of me that had some sliver of hope though...
