IN FLAMES new album being released by the end of 2016

Excellent news. Looks like he finally came to his senses and decided he'd had enough, just like Jesper and Daniel before him. The final nail has been in the coffin for years now, and hopefully this is a sign that before long we'll see it lowered into the earth once and for all.

Back to the ASOP sound it looks like. Not very impressive. Also, I love this statement: So, finally admitting your MO nowadays has been to make music for scene kids to cut their wrists to, eh Bjorn?

IN FLAMES new album being released by the end of 2016

I called it, a return to a heavier, more metalcore-ish vibe a la Come Clarity. Sounds better than Siren Charms, but still pretty squarely middle-of-the-road. Also, supporting A7X and Disturbed, possibly two of the most cancerous pseudo-metal bands of a bygone era... just awful. And the worst...

IN FLAMES new album being released by the end of 2016

This is really a point in the band's history where, possibly more than any other junction, the new album could sound like just about anything. It would follow that they realized Siren Charms was an unmitigated piece of shit that garnered not a single response above lukewarm, so maybe it will be...

IN FLAMES new album being released by the end of 2016

Are we hearing the same thing? From what I can tell they went WAY overboard with the compression, to the point where everything sounds like a blurry mess. The guitars sound grainy and toothless, not punching through the mix with anywhere near as much power as they ought to, Dan's drums sound...

    Power Quest teases

Something very fishy about that end-date though... Steve wouldn't possibly lead us on like that, would he?

In Flames New Album being released in Q2 of 2014 thread

He was obviously going through the motions for the better part of a decade. Someone of Daniel's skill level would and should be bored out of his mind playing derivative mid-tempo crap night after night. Maybe after Siren Charms he finally realized the paychecks weren't worth compromising his...

In Flames New Album being released in Q2 of 2014 thread

Especially when his own growls/screams were infinitely better than Anders' ever were. It will forever perplex me why they never once let him do at least some backing vocals, or even taking the helm for a song or two. What a waste.

In Flames New Album being released in Q2 of 2014 thread

Huh. You know, for the longest time I was wondering whether the guy would eventually jump ship, but I never thought I'd see the day where he actually did. As much as I hope he might use this opportunity to start Sacrilege back up and start writing some awesome stuff again (like he was thinking...

In Flames New Album being released in Q2 of 2014 thread

Well, I'll be damned. Not a bad setlist at all. Nice to see SC and ASOP getting minimal coverage. Can't be too happy about 3 STYE songs, but hey, Superhero isn't the worst choice in the world. Nevertheless, I'm actually kind of stunned to see a whopping 3 songs from Clayman and Whoracle...

Do you do your own edits?

Seconded. That seems like it would be a pretty good combination. And yeah, I've experimented with stuff like that on my own time as well, even with a few full albums. Mixing portions, cutting out others, kicking up the tempo here and there, etc. The best band to edit down songs for? Opeth's...

Can In Flames be called In Flames these days?

Around 3 in the morning, I believe. Yeah, I kinda put my mom through hell. It's not that the band changed that pisses most people off, but that the change 1) wasn't executed well, and 2) seems to have been done for no other purpose than being with the "in-crowd". I often compare this...

Can In Flames be called In Flames these days?

It would be pretty comical just how far off the rails this thread has gone if it weren't such a chore to have to read a full blown essay in every single post. All I will say on the matter is that I have struggled with depression myself for about as long as I can remember. It indeed sucks, but...

Can In Flames be called In Flames these days?

True. Back when I knew practically nothing of metal, I legitimately enjoyed the albums from Reroute onward. Then I eventually realized they were a bunch of metalcore/emo crap and before long couldn't stand them. Still, there was a very small part of me that had some sliver of hope though...
