I just started listening to Agalloch because of this thread. I'm impressed, surprised I've never heard of them til now. If Mike is accusing bands of ripping him off, he needs to remember all the 'influences' on his work. ;) EDIT: Something I thought was creepy, I was making up this riff...

Another 'heavy' song I like is Godhead's Lament. Quite possibly the best, in my opinion, track on Still Life.

I'd define heavy as in not only the sound, but the lyrics, and the weight they bring to you as a listener.

Not to go too far off topic, but I feel TNATSW is a very under appreciated song.

Since it's the first album to feature Akesson and Axenrot, I think Opeth's sound has changed slightly. In an interview it was said that even though Mike writes most of the stuff, he gives the other guys a little creative room and they all hunker down to get it to sound good for everybody...

Pretty vague title if you ask me. That said, The Night and the Silent Water. I can really relate to that song... my grandfather past away about a year ago, and it seems Mikael felt the same way about his grandfather's passing as I do about mine.

Bah, sadly after some figuring, it would just be too expensive for me to make the Chicago show... Opeth, you guys REALLY need to do a show in St. Louis, Missouri! I'm sure I'm missing out on a great show, but money is tight now so hopefully one day you will play a closer gig! Keep up...
