003 Rack + FP10

i am wanting to add an 003 rack to my rig just for pro tools and i was wondering is there any way i can use my fp10 alongside the 003 rack? i tried searching but gave up when it wouldnt let me use less than 4 letter words which made it impossible to search for "003 rack" or "pro tools". any help on this would be appreciated as i really want pro tools but i want to keep my fp10. thanks.

you should be able to as long as you can route the mic inputs to the ADAT lightpipe output. (software control panel?)

i dont think the fp10 has ADAT outputs. it has 2 preamp outputs though so could i run those into an input on the 003 rack?

nope, but if you used the fp10 in standalone and sent the out into the 003 line inputs you could use the fp10s superior pres

Nope, cuz the 003 only has 8 analog ins, so for channels 1-4, it's either line-in or built-in preamp - perhaps, though, you could route a pair of preamp channels on the FP10 to the SPDIF out, which would give you two more channels in the 003

well couldnt i run the preamp out on my firepod into any one of the analog ins on the 003 rack and still be able to use the 4 xlr inputs if the 003 rack has 8 analog ins?

could just sell the Firepod and get a Presonus Digimax or something and just run those outputs into the inputs of the 003.

im going to just buy the 003 rack first and then try the preamp outs on the firepod if it works it works if not then im getting a digimax.

Just don't plug the FW cable in to your computer (FP10) then all the line outs on the back correlate to the mic preamps on the front.

Yeah...it seems like it would just be less of a hassle. Plus the pres on the Digimax are probaby way better than the 003 anyway.
