Basic rundown of my situation: I'm goin to college in a couple months and have a new laptop for school running Vista 64 bit. I have a firewire 1814 but I want to leave that integrated into my studio rack. So I'm getting a new pro-tools compatible interface, and I need some help.
My two choices are either M-Audio Fast track pro or a digi Mbox 2 (I need something with a couple inputs and MIDI that runs USB)
My main question is how well compatible are pro tools 7.4 m powered and pro tools 8 LE? I can get the fast track and keep the 7.4 that I have and not have any issues, or I can buy the mbox with pro tools 8 from my friend. Both are going to cost me the same amount of money. I'm looking to eventually upgrade my 1814 to a 002 or 003 rack, but that's looking way ahead.
Any help or recommendations?
