06 by a mile. I could name 10 albums from last year better than anything I've heard so far this year. Agalloch, Negura Bunget, Katatonia and Wolves in the Throne Room to name but a few.

I think it was a close call. I'm leaning towards '07 for Therion, but it's hard to tell. I need to look through what I have from '06 as I think it was a more solid year, but I might be forgetting some stuff from both years.

My vote goes to 07, but just barely. I seemed to be more satisfied with a new release more often this year than last, and that's what really matters to me.

Dark Tribe, Nav', Inquisition, Deathspell Omega, Graveland (these five are enough on their own) Drudkh, Angantyr, Nyktalgia, Chaos Omen, Malign, Veles, Woodtemple, Ad Hominem, Pest (Ger), et cetera.

'06 pretty easily. '04 was better than the last few years though.

What release from this year will still be talked about a few years from now?

'04 was also a great year for just about every USBM band. Xasthur had something like two full-lengths and four splits.

Speaking of which, have you managed to get your hands on Defective Epitaph?

Yeah, it hasn't done much for me yet. Sometimes the drums really suck. It's off-putting. I'm also finding the production more difficult than on the last few releases. I'll give it more time, since most Xasthur albums are growers.

2006 wins for me, but I have alot of 2007 releases I want to check out which I haven't yet so It may change.

06 had a very weak beginning but finished off strong, but 07 has been very good all around. 07 is definitely a better year.

OK, I just went through what I had & I'm definitely going with 2006. If I'm drunk & bored later tonight I will post everything I have from both years I have quite a bit more 2006 stuff.
