Yahoo mail gives you 100mb of space, and you can handle 10mb at once. Pretty good, if you ask me.
What the person there isn't saying, though, is that to access it with an email program, you've got to sign up to a weird advertising thingymadoodle. Which is, pretty much, what gmail does, to the best of my knowledge.
