first ruffmix of a band called "Cramb" (again not very metal ;) ).

don't want to tell to much about the musicians, the band is pretty young and has to gain some experience....

the singer is great though!

damn, those clean guitars are noisy as fuck...shouldn't have used the 5150 together with p90 pups. lol...they wanted it that way ;).

anyway, please tell me what you think:

Cramb

Das ist die neue Doro!

Aren't the guitars a little bit loud here? (yes, they are)
And check the gate (or the samples) of the kick at around 1:50. There is some fuckin clipping here and there!
And are you using samples on the snare? Because it sounds a little bit unnatural on some places.

Except this, a great mix! I always absolutely enjoy your works!!!

the heavy guitars fucking rock! is it just p90's into a 5150? i must know the chain. what were the guitars used as well?

it's 2 tracks of fender usa strat (mapleneck) with emg85 (18v) in the bridge--->808modded TS9-->6505 biasmodded-->Engl v30 cab-->1sm57 slightly off center/off axis-->SPL Goldmike-->RME -->cubase. just a touch of multiband-comp and a tiny but wide 2dB boost at about 5-6k.

(stonepick was used on the guitars....I don't use anything else and force my clients to us it too....expensive but sounds WAY better than nylon or the usual plastic-crap)

Yep, you're right... will lower them a bit tomorrow.

No samples used on the snare...just did a ruff master that caused some clipping---will fix that in the final verison, thanks for the hints though, you know, it's sometimes kinda hard to judge things when you've been working for 12 hours and your ears are fucked ;)

thanks

I tried all the other stone-picks...none is as good (playable) as the st-4...try to get that one!
just drop the guys at tonetoys a mail, they will answer in english and send you the pick to whatever country.
If it should be impossible to ship to the UK (don't think so) drop me a PM and I'll organize it...

they are expensive, but you won't regret buying one...takes like a week or so to get used to them, but yafter that week you won't be playing any other pick anymore ;)
plus for 14€ you never loose it ;)

Whats exspensive $20?

Tone wise whats the effect? I actually don't care for super heavy pics unless I am doing some kind of lead work.

I really would like to give one a go though, but I don't want to end up paying $40 for something I may end up losing.

hm,, about 20$ incl. shipping,yes.
you won't lose a 20$ pick, like you don't lose a 20$ Zippo ;)

tonewise it's warmer/fuller and you've got 100% control (most important thing I think)...

I could perhaps just record some DI-samples of stone vs. plastic and post those for reamping or whatever...

Hehe, I really love her voice ;)

Seriously???

Don't want to sound harsh, but to me she sounds like some chick who had years of vocal training (for musicals maybe) and now mainly sings in a top40/cover-band that plays village-summerparties with songs by Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, Four Non Blondes and Silbermond.

I am really missing *any* soul, heart and feeling (and it doesn't help that the lyrics are not flowing well, either) ...

Just not my cup of tea, I guess. And the comparison to Doro is not valid, imnsho, because Doro is recognizeable after 5 notes ...

A suggestion maybe for the noisy guitars in the beginning: use a "record player crackle" effect on top of it. That might make it sound authentic :)
