2. Can omeone give me a rec for a typical black metal song? Gonna have to do a speech in english class tomorrow and I'm doin it on metal(ofc) and I'm gonna have to compare black metal to thrash metal

Wish I could help but I can't really play a guitar, but I understand playing Travis "Why does it always rain on me" is quite good to learn as it teaches you play rythym, thats what I play

I started learning Annihilator Alice in Hell and Never Neverland, they made me much much much better.

For number one. I just covered a stupid number of songs. Mainly Sepultura and Death songs. As for Death... I learned the whole Scream Bloody Gore album and that worked nicely.

1. Dont know how good you are, but when i want to get better I practice 'hard' riffs slowly over and over. Try Killing is my business.

1. Learning "hard riffs" demoralizes me..... it reminds me that "Yeah, I fucking suck." My suggestion(s) would be "Enter Sandman" and "Seek and Destroy" by Metallica.

Na i'd agree with that mostly. Killing is my buisness and some of cryptic writings, rust and PSBWB. Endgame is awesome too. Haven't looked at any others.

1. What you like. Practice needs an incentive and the best incentive is to enjoy what you are playing. Find a song/riff that you love but can't really play and get on with it. Like someone said, Metallica is always a good idea but see what floats your boat...
