I think you guys should be thanking me for being the best commish ever. I try my best to make sure everyone in my league is happy with the rules etc, and try to make it fun.
The reason I bring this up is because I was absolutely and utterly reamed in the asshole this morning in another league of mine. This fucking guy, SAME GUY, out-waivered be on TWO different players this morning. He also made SIX TOTAL MOVES and for some reason, god knows why, HE HAS A FUCKING HIGHER WAIVER PRIORITY THAN ME STILL!!! That makes no fucking sense and I'm omega pissed.

What does "waver priority" mean? I see the numbers next to our team names (I am 8) but I have no idea what that is.

That's the order in which the waiver is completed if everyone has them outstanding. That means you are 8th to have your waiver transaction completed

The lower your number, the better your chances of picking up a player. It's basically your number in line as far as picking up a player on waivers. If you and Joe Schmoe decide you want to sign the same guy off of waivers, and your waiver priority is 8 and his is 6 then he'll get him.
It's based on your recent "moves" or pickups. The last person to make a move in the league gets the lowest priority until someone else picks, etc.
I think waivers are complete bullshit honestly. If you pick up a guy first then you deserve the get him. Not this crap of every 3 days the waivers are processed and you pick up soandso on day one and at the last minute Joe Asshole decides "hey I want this guy too" and he has a higher waiver priority than you so he gets him instead. Or when the one guy who never does shit in the league the entire season decides he wants to pick up someone and gets priority. It's not fair and I hate them and hope they die.

So when and how do players get the status of being "on waiver"? Are all available players "on waiver"?
Does this mean, for example, that I can just go take the Miami DEF from you (Rick) since my number is lower than yours right now?

I think the waiver thing is good. Makes you have to think about your moves, instead of just grabbing and dropping people all the time.

Any and all players who are available to be picked up on the free agent market are placed in the "waiver" category once someone decides to pick them up and will remain there until the waivers are processed (typically every 2-3 days). So if you and joe decide you want Miami's defense, you can both technically pick him up. The system recognizes that two different people picked this free agent up, and the day of processing it has a bunch of checks that it completes before assigning that free agent to its rightful owner. One of the checks is your waiver priority. The lower the number, the better chance you have of picking that player up because if your waiver priority is 1 and joe's is 5, clearly you have the higher priority.
Our league doesn't have waivers activated because I disabled them for various reasons, one of which is the shit I went through yesterday. Your waiver priority won't change throughout the season so it's a useless number.
