5 bands that have never played Progpower, and 5 you would like to see return......

Returning: (too easy)
Haken
Threshold
Blind Guardian
Serenity
Devin Townsend Project

First Timers: (again, too easy)
THE OMEGA EXPERIMENT
KELDIAN
WITHIN TEMPTATION
Avantasia (no bold, probably not realistic)
ANUBIS GATE

Okay, I'll play:

Bring 'Em Back:
* Amorphis - Went over really well when last they played.
* Serenity - At least a #4 slot. I'd say headliner, but I want to avoid the Edguy "3rd-to Top Billing effect"
* Voyager - Didn't play long enough last time
* Wuthering Heights - It was them or Mob Rules, and I chose on the basis of time since they last played
* Oliva'tage (any Oliva incarncation)

NOTE (Would LOVE to see Blind Guardian here again, but I chose bands that I can't normally see, minus Oliva. I'd pay to see Oliva do just about anything, including read out his Chinese take-out order)

New to the Stage:
* Falconer - This may be the most requested band left on Glenn's list (assuing that they are on his list)
* Nightingale
* Eclipse - Bleed & Scream is awesome
* Ten - May be too melodic, but I'll throw them on there anyway.
* Y&T (as the old school entry)

Special Mention - A good Iron Maiden cover band would slay on Wed night. The whole night would be a sing along.

Avantasia/Ayreon - Saw no reason to mention them. May as well ask to book Iron Maiden.

Steve in Philly

P.S. - It is a tribute to PP that I had more trouble narrowing down the list of bands that I'd like to see return than choosing the bands I want to make a first appearance. There are still tons of the latter, but PP has certainly brought us so many already.

Why the hell not join the fun?

5 returning:

Angra
Ihsahn
Blind Guardian
Conception
Elvenking (so I can see their full set this time)

5 who have never played:

Andre Matos (in any way, shape or form)
Anathema
Rhapsody of Fire
Hibria
Lost Horizon

I logged in strictly to participate in the poll...

5 returners:

1. Domine

4. Freedom Call (first 3 or 4 albums only)
5. Winterborn
6. Grave Digger (cause I didn't list a 5 in the first list)
bonus track:
7. WatchTower (again, cold day in hell)

Super unrealistic:

1. Running Wild (with full band and full pyro)
2. Dark At Dawn

Returning:

Voyager
Circus Maximus
Evergrey
Serenity
Vanden Plas

(Myrath, Symphony X, LanFear, Andromeda, Gamma Ray, Threshold, Orphaned Land, Labyrinth, Kamelot, Pagan's Mind, DGM, Redemption, God I love this festival, Wolverine, WHW, etc)

Never Been:

Hibria
Heavenly
Knight Area
Anathema
Subsignal

Returning acts:

Threshold: Would love to see again.
Primal Fear: They're already playing Atlanta in early 2014, so would a return in the 2015 edition be out of the question?
Iced Earth: I'm guessing they'll be in the area on their next tour, but I would love to see them headline PPUSA.
Blind Guardian: I never had a chance to see these guys live.
Sonata Arctica: They were awesome in 2007, so why not make their return?

Never played (don't know if they are financially feasible)

Demons & Wizards: This would be awesome if Jon and Hani could reunite.
Tarja: Would love to see her solo act.
Accept or UDO: I was very disappointed that Accept skipped over Atlanta on their last tour.
Eden's Curse: An interesting European band, although perhaps a bit too pop metal for this festival.
Lunatica: I have no idea if they're still around, but they had an awesome debut album several years back.

Figured i'd do the whole shebang rather than just plea for Elvenking's return lol.

1) New Bands: I don't know how many of these actually tour, but here it goes:
Pathfinder (They are looking for a new singer, they need to call Daniel Heiman ASAP)
Solar Fragment
Dragonland
Rhapsody of Fire
Thy Majesty
2) Returning Bands:
Blind Guardian
Primal Fear
Royal Hunt
Helloween

Top 5 bands returning:
1. Therion - Totally blew me away when I saw them.
2. While Heaven Wept - Big fan of them and bitterly disappointed I missed them.
3. Nightwish (with Tarja)
4. Kamelot - I'm still pissed I didn't get to 2012 show though I did see them at PPII
5. Sonata Arctica - Wifes favorite band so gotta go with them.

Top 5 That have never played

1. Katatonia (this band is like a fine wine, they just keep getting better with age).
2. Steven Wilson doing a special set that included guest appearances & material from Blackfield, solo work, Porcupine Tree and Opeth (Damnation era).
3. DC Cooper doing a special set including Silent FOrce, Royal Hunt, solo work and a couple of Dol Ammad tunes (with Therion doing backing vocals).
4. Candlemass - Love them and saw them at BWBK
5. Trouble - See #4. Their set was even better than Candlemass

Return: Edguy (or any reason for Tobias to come back!)
Nightwish with Floor (or new...Revamp)
Any excuse to get Elize back...either Amaranthe or the Timo Avalon project she is on

New:
Since I missed Angel Dust, I'd love to see Mercury Tide play!
Symbolica (closest thing I've heard to Angle Dust in a long time!

Edit for spelling

Solitude Aeturnus (not sure if this would even be possible anymore)

Hammers of Misfortune (not sure if they are still a band, haven't heard anything in sometime)

Watchtower (with Alan or Jason, prefer Alan)

Arch / Matheos (seriously how awesome would that be)

Twisted Tower Dire (though I have seen them more times than I can count seeing them at Progpower would be fun)

And maybe a real female front metal band, you know one in which the singer is not in a frilly dress. Something like Leather, Doro, etc.
Just a passing thought on the topic of female metal singers; I gotta say Nina is sounding pretty good on that snippet of ASOT in their Kickstarter video.

Returning:
Diablo Swing Orchestra
Nightwish
Therion
Devin Townsend
Voyager

(Course, there is a list almost as long of bands I'd like to see again who are no more: Superior, Jag Panzer, Conception, After Forever..)

Never appeared at ProgPower:
Falconer
Anathema
Within Temptation
3
Thank You Scientist

First of all, Anubis Gate should be on every "Never Appeared" list. Period.
Secondly, a semi-funny "3" story:
A bunch of us saw them in Miami a few years ago, and after they finished I went to their table where they were selling merch and I said "You guys fucking RAWKED out there!" Joey gets this confused look on his face and says "th-thanks, sir?"
...realizing I was old enough to be the kids father probably put him off. I bought an album anyway.
