5150/6505 vs 5150mk2/6506+: Amount of distortion?!

So they have alittle different voicing, one has fizzier top while the other has moore growl on the bottom...

...but do they generally have the same amount of distortion?

People say the 5150/6505 has more gain on tap than the 6505+/5150II. I've owned both and really I'd disagree for the most part. One may have more gain than the other technically, but I'd say they both have about the same usable gain. Actually my 6505+ sounds like it has more gain with the tube changes I did over the stock tube tone of my 5150.

Both amps have more than enough gain for anyone.

yea i keep backing down my gain live as my playing is improving. Recording omg i gotta turn it down past half way but i know the 5150 or 6505 like stated above have way more than enough gain!!
