I finally got around to modding the lead channel of my 5150 Combo to head spec. Did a sample before and after. The change should be obvious. Signal chain was as follows:
DI->Digitech GSP1101 for TS9 sim->5150->GSP1101 for IR->Saffire 6 USB (couldn't mic the amp up as my wife and daughter were asleep). Used the Messiah IR that I already had loaded into the 1101. The clip changes in between each set of riffs for easy comparison.
Used Metal Machine for the drums and Zombass for bass. Guitar used was an Ibanez RGT6EXFX with an EMG 81.
