5150 mix again, dismemberish, no vox

Hmm...
Well the strings are not the newest when recorded.
I guess that would be the problem then.
Mics were like 1/2 inch away from the grill cloth, gain was at 3, pickups are EMG81. Will try again with newer strings and less gain then.

definition like no attack on the guitars?
or what exactly do you mean?

thanks for taking the time to listen, I'm still learning hard...

its to muddy you need to tighten the bottem end i think i dont like the down strokes they need to be tight as fuck for me

i love all that remains down strokes now they are tight as fuck.

heavy gauge strings in standard drop d tuning will help in this regard try a set of 13's 14's make sure to adjust your truss rod though if you tuning to standard.

Also realy attack the srings with a heavy gauge plec like 3mm in conjunction with tight control of your palm mutes. Realy tight playing will add shit loads to your overall tone like at least 60% of tone comes from your fingers the rest is the gear you use.

What are you guys talking about? abyssofdreams was obviously aiming at a Sunlight era type of sound. It's not about tightness at all...

my bad i was just giving general observations on the tone and my preferences if he was going for that type of sound and nailed it fair play to him. But i still think that that tone has a lot wrong with it but hey different folks different stokes eh
Best of luck with it abyssofdreams:rock:

you had me at "dismember." does remind me of the sound off death metal.

if it sounded all pretty and clean and like 100 other clips that all sound like they use the same settings on the same amp with the same mic placement and the same eq and compression, I probably wouldn't have commented.

hey, your comment is completely legit, no need for apologies.
I gotcha on the tight playing, working on that, however this take was just for testing purposes...
