5150 tubescreamer

My TS9 was a must with my roadster, a freaking must.

What does it do to the 5150/6505 though? I thought those were pretty tight amps to begin with.

Tube screamer is a must have for my 5150. You will not need any eq pedal after you have a tube screamer. Sounds great on red and green channels. Also sounds good on green channel with the bright on and the crunch off if you have active pickups. Some type of noise gate/supressor will be required.

I like the 5150 better with a tubescreamer in front of it as well. Never really bothered to try it out for quite some time since I didn't feel the amp needed it. Once I did, though, I liked the result. This was with a 5150 II though, I'm not sure exactly how much difference there is between the mk1 and mk2.

How do you set the TS to tame the fizz on the top?
if you have it in TS9 mode with the Drive @ 9 o'clock, Tone @ Noon, and Level @ Noon, then the fizz is coming from the 6505+, and you maybe didn't notice it before. If that's the case, try adjusting the High and/or Presence controls on the head.
