57 57-w/o-xformer atm650 e609S i5 atm25

Here's six mics with two sets of clips. Clips are numbered and the clips with lc in the name have a bit of bottom compression.

I pointed each mic directly at the center of the same Greenback speaker, reamped the same clip and used a ruler laid across the speaker for the distance (See pic). No claim that this is a nat's ass measurement and I realize the diaphragms are not all the same distance due to the mic housing. but this allowed the setup to be very repeatable.

To get a really good feel for the tonal differences, I load a set of six into my DAW and loop a small selected section over and over, then switch to another clip of the same section. the differences jump out.

care to match clip to mic?

my favourite was 338 btw. seemed to have a good balance between beef and bite.

They all sound cool to me and i'm too lazy (and unskilled) to do the "guess the mic" thing.

By the way what is the first distorted riff you're playing ? It sounds like a classic and i remember hearing Dime playing it live with Pantera in the middle of Cowboy From Hell... but i wanna know if it's a riff from some 80's band or something. It's a really cool riff.

Well, most of just want to know which is which without all the guessing. The e609s is probably 341 since it's darker than the other. As for the others - it would be a shot in the dark for me at least. I only have a couple of 57s without the mod and yet they sound quite different.
