60 14-year old pupils had to listen to "The Moor" today

heh I had a music teacher called mister bradshaw, he looked uncannily like mulder from the x files, and he used to be obsessed with the beatles.

why are all 40 something music teachers obsessed with the beatles.

influence, inspiration, so what, their music sucks ass hahaha....

The Moor is a cool Opeth track but I woulda made em listen to April Ethereal or When. :) And my music teacher made me listen to Yanni!! rofl! I did however enjoy the dueling solos that were in it!! Too cool! Pick up Yanni's live at the acropolis!! Rent it...don't buy it or be branded a fag for life.

@Black_paragon
if it weren't for the beatles, rock music, and therefore metal, would not be where it is today...opeth is perfect material for a music sylabus btw...the closest we had was an exam question on a dream theater song...

bah! if you were the age you are now at that time you would have most likely been a beatles fan .... music change's...people take risks with their music and that's why we have so many different styles.....
So many older people are obsessed with the beatles because the music was awesome and it had a big impact on their lifes ..... ok it was pop music and it started a lot of shitty music but do you think so many people 30 years down the road are gonna be still "obsessed' with eminem or that fagget fifty cent as the older people who are still obsessed with the beatles today.. no.
that's one of the many difference's between shitty music and good music ....
maybe one day you'll understand :p

You guys will love this...my music instructor is into stuff like jimi hendrix and old stuff like that but i got him into opeth!...its really cool and me and him now listen to them and learn some of there stuff...i've learned a lot of there songs from him and yea i think that its pretty  i got him into them!

One of the late and great Frank Zappa's passions was to introduce a music appreciation syllabus into high schools. The students would be exposed to jazz, fusion, rock, metal, and not just classical.
I think Frank would be most appreciative of your efforts.

Wow, thanks for all the cool replies! *mumble*butmyrepisstillthesame*mmmm* :p I kid, I kid.

Well, I have an important update: One of the kids asked me today which album he should buy first!

:D I'm pretty pleased with that.

And yeah, I should have had a camera hehe.

They reacted with confusion during the first two minutes. Why wasn't anyone singing? Why did nothing change? Is the song like this for twelve minutes? hehe.

When the first growl/howl appeared, most boys turned to me and smiled, as if confirming that I think that's cool. The girls shook their heads, clearly not understanding one thing. However, one of the girls, a rather smart one, actually followed the lyrics and said afterwards that she liked them. She is definitely becoming a goth chick :O

Today I wore my Opeth jumper to work and the kids recognized the logo. "Hey, that's your favorite band!", "How many metal clothes do have??" etc.

It's nice to spread some intelligent art once in a while.
