600 euros What's the best combo Soundcard/Pre to get?

More info please!

Firewire, USB2, PCI? How many tracks do you need, what kind of things are you recording (drums, guitar, vocals??)

More info could yield totally different recommendations.

I'd get the M-Audio Profire 2626 over the Focusrite Saffire Pro... Saffire has no pads on the preamps and they start at like +12db. I had to return mine because ALL of my drum tracks were clipping half the time even with the gain on "zero."

FMR Really Nice Preamp : http://www.thomann.de/gb/fmr_audio_rnp_8380.htm + a PCI soundcard. M-audio 2496/ EMU 0404 or for higher quality and more options maybe the M-audio Audiophile 192 or EMU 1212M.

Once I have finished my demo and felt that I have hit the limits of my Presonus Inspire this is the package I was looking at buying.

we have to record di tracks for guitar and bass, no drum tracking
pre for voice. firewire

Well in that case, Mackie Satellite! Cheap as chips, but bloody good at what it does. Two inputs, hi-z for guitar and bass. Low latency, high quality ONYX converters.

Then get some radial DI boxes, as suggested above.

Are you looking to use software amplifiers, or did you want a pre-amp to route through a cab modeller?
