6L6 vs EL34 shootout with clips

+1 i would love to hear it, nice tone too!.. i have the gh50l with 6l6 cant crank the fucker past 2 in my fuckin room

I went back and forth between 6L6's and EL34's in my Rectfier for weeks and there is definitely a noticeable aural difference (I'm now using JJ E34L's). I think that the micing methods that we generally use here (on grill, dustcap edge) do not reveal the differences as drastically as what you hear in the room.

can't listen to the file atm...
but usually I never really liked 34s as much as 6l6 in any amp.
all my "el34-amps" are KT88 now...MUUUCH better .
my JSX has 6l6 now and sounds WAY better than with el34 also.
to me el34 always sounded harsh, biting and thin compared to 6l6 and kt88.....
also is the clean sound of 6l6 much better imo

I think I like the 6l6s better. There definitely is a difference, though.
