8 channel ADAT preamps suggestions?

Isn't the Audient more than double the cost?

Audient is like $2000 with the ADAT card. I got the Octopre w/ADAT for $425

Did consider the Audient though, I still have 8 channels of ADAT available in my interface so maybe I'll pick one up later on down the road when I'm actually making money doing this stuff...

Lasse, do you really think the Octopre is that much better?

the octopre with the adat option pissed all over the RME quadmic through Multiface when I compared them.

the octopre preamps aren't really colored or "warm" sounding but really sparkly and clean.
best preamps for the money IMO

I experienced Octopre's to be realy flat and sterile sounding, with a nasty high end.
And i had allready compared it to a SPL goldmike when working with it..
Just knowing that you would probably have a way better result if your preamps would be better kinda took out the joy off recording with those things for me..

And changing the Audient to API would probably be the same thing/situation as that i described above, big difference is that Audient is still allways workable, and if your skilled you could probably get the same result out of them.. octopre's weren't for me..

Like i said.. hate them with a vengeance hahaha

You get some great stuff out of them though lasse!
