80's pop

Do you guys find that you now like some of the pop stuff from the 80's that you hated back then?
Absolutely not. I think I heard enough of that stuff growing up.
I can however, catch myself picking the songs apart when I hear them on
the dish or on Vh-1. There's some of that stuff that really had some killer parts to them & or would make great covers...

May I ask when exactly and how it happened? Maybe the early twenties are just the "right" age to get into her music? (I was 22 in 1990 and you are not that much older now.)
It happened..... last year, when I was 22 :loco:
History always repeats itself ahah

Do I have to admit that I heard pop in the very early 80's? Can I take the Fifth on this one? Please? Does Motley Crue qualifies as pop? :p

OK, before metal I liked ABBA (but that was mid to late 70's), I did heard pop before born again, but since I don't listen to radio at all and I don't have any of that stuff in my collection...:D

No way! If I hated then I still hate it (hate is a very respectable emotion :heh: )

With the exception of the odd song here or there, I HATED 80s pop, and I still HATE it to this day... absolute bubble-gum rubbish! It's scary that pop music has gotten even WORSE since then!

Cheers!

80's pop was in general much better in songwriting than todays crap...
I really dig a whole lot of 80s hits, VH1's "So 80s" show is one of my favorites... :)
The best in pop from that era would be Depeche Mode, Duran Duran and Eurythmics. Madonna had some killer songs, as well as Bangles, Michael Jackson, A-HA, Kim Wilde and so on, the list would be full of one hit wonders. :D

BTW, do you like Gamma Ray's Pet Shop Boys' "It's A Sin" cover?
It's one of the best covers I've ever heard, not just played like it is, but cleverly rearranged to fit their style as if it was made that way, awesome. :worship:

My favorite M-Jackson song was a cover he did called Dirty Diana
Yesterday we were in a strip joint and one of the damsels used that song for her act. As much as I abhors Wacko Jacko :puke: , I do believe that must be his less-worst song because of Steve Stevens playing (of course is Steve LOWEST career point). And as far as I know it not a cover, but it wouldn't surprise me I doubt that freak can pull a song like that by himself. As bad (pun intended) as it is, is better than his entire recording career.

ok, I'm gonna try not to get all weepy on this one but there is one song, pop of all pop, that I love to this day and will not bow to the haters who scoff me for it...it rocks.

ELTON JOHN - Candle In the Wind - and a tie with I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues

I love those songs....

and on the lighter side (can it GET any lighter?)

The GREASE soundtrack!!!!

Y'all know you've sang along to SANDRA DEE at least once in your life!

And to EPIPHANY - I gotta go with MANIC MONDAY! hahahaha

a sick sick man
