Allright just looking through a bunch of stuff to buy for my comp and Im wondering what kind of motherboard to get right now whether to get an AMD or Pentium processer and what to get in terms of harddrive
Oh yeah and off the topic of actual internal parts is 7.1 soround a waste of the money (when I have it) or should I just go with 5.1

I recommend this mother board Asus and a either a 5.1 logitech Z640 which you can get for 70$ or a Z680 which is like 340$ and is over 500 watts power...
or you can wait untill the PCI Express stuff comes out

1. CPU: Depends what you're going to use it for... if you're splashing out and like to game, go for an AMD 64; if you're into hardcore video/music encoding then a Pentium 4 EE might be better for you. If you're on a budget, go for a regular AMD Athlon; if you can afford a little more, go for a P4 :)

2. HDD: Anything big and SATA will be fine, from the major brands (Western Digital, Maxtor, Seagate)

3. 5.1 is great, but I don't know if 7.1 is any better.
