a co-worker gave me her tape collection so i'd have stuff to listen to in the car

why's that?
Tapes are just convenient, as opposed to CDs which are a pain to handle and store in a car imo.
So yeah I have a USB tuner and that's ok, but tapes are just a natural companion to the act of driving.

Tapes are just convenient

hm

not when you have like 40 of them in the car and you gotta find the right one and fiddle with cases and stuff while keeping an eye on the road

the most "CONVENIENT" solution is surely one of those modern combo units that take cd's, mp3 cd's, SD cards and USB mass storage... but i kind of like the tape player because it forces me to listen to my tapes, also i love real mixtapes, also i'm too lazy and cheap to put a cd/mp3 player in there

It's kind of ridiculous how convienent having a USB port built into the dash/deck of a car is... no reason to use CD, Tape, AUX, etc anymore.

I'm happy with the Ipod/radio transmitter combination in the car, gives me 30gb of music easily enough. Only problems are the transmitter being shit and unreliable, and the sound quality being kinda bad.

On an unrelated note, my friend and I put on my Jethro Tull - Heavy Horses LP the other day and I'd never heard it before and it either sounded awful or the record player wasn't playing at the right RPM... or both?

Only Aurel will appreciate this: aside from the Testarossa I told you about, there's a mid-80s Lotus Esprit regularly parked in the garage. I studied it at length the other day and noticed the owner hasn't changed the original tape deck out for something more modern. And, in fact, there was a tape sticking out of it :headbang:

Car's probably been parked there SINCE the 80s

YOU NEED A NEW PLAYER THAT SHIT IS ANNOYING

Hells yeah, scorching along listening to a taped mix of Enslaved's Frost, some Absu and Havohej right after fucking up my A-level examination kind of ruled. 96

Some two weeks prior I didn't even guess at black metal's existence...

Bringing original copies of heavy emtal into the car sux because they get worn and possibly broken and that's sad
My car only has a regular CD player, that sux.

I used to make copies of my most commonly played stuff and would bring the copies in the car, to work, or anywhere else I needed to have music for that exact reason. Then I got really lazy and just stopped.

I like the idea of the USB port but then I'd have to be arsed to put all my shit onto iTunes or something. I should probably so that anyway, but the thought of the process makes my ass twitch.

Same, but I gotta start again soon or find some way to play komputer musik in the car
