I'm in the market for a new car stereo soonish. I had the iPod with radio transmitter option going, but after being convinced to buy the $120 radio transmitter because of its 'superior sound and lack of fuzziness when changing gears (as apparently inferior products have?!)', and finding the sound quality quite fucking deplorable, I reverted back to CDs in the car, but the mofo is rejecting the fuckers sporadically lately.

Anyway, USB , iPod jack and rear and front AUX type stereos are only about $200 these days. With pretty colours to boot.

The $100 Pioneer head unit I bought in 2007 had an aux port.

yeah

there is a usb connector that plugs into the proprietary connector but it's just for charging using the 5V line that the usb port has

i wish there were good mp3 players that had a big ass hard drive (80 gb min) and were just a usb storage device that let you retain your own directory structure etc

i hate itunes more than anything in the world and the ipod generally is a featureless piece of crap but it is pretty much the only option for a HD mp3 player

I think I have the same Pioneer deck as dorian. I used that Aux thing like twice. Each time, I couldn't stand it. Not to mention swerving off the road while trying to navigate through the fucking thing.
