A Dialouge With the Stars

Has anyone tried photographing the stars? I have a friend who wants to get into that, he was telling me about it. You need to buy a tripod thing with a computerised motor, to move the camera at the same speed as the earth's rotation, in the opposite direction, because the exposure has to be for a long time and it's blurry without it.
The concept of that blows my mind somewhat. I mean, how often do you think of the earth actually spinning through space and all... the sun comes up, it goes down, how often do you actually think about why that happens.......

I thought about it in my science class 4 years ago :p but actually that would be a very relaxing job dont ya think? A photographer of the stars. To get paid to do that would be godly, maybe i should take photography in college.

Yeah, that would be a cool job, but maybe not when you told someone what you did. I mean 'I photograph the stars'..... people might think you're one of those tabloid pricks that stalk famous people so you can get a shot of them naked from 300 yards away :err: :D

And the computer-thingy is horribly expensive.

But it would be cool (literally as well, I'll bet :))

*envious* :) I bet it is, I can almost picture it in my mind. Why cant you do it where you live? I do it in my backyard on the walkway, very very serene.........

 because i live in a shitty city....tons of cement and too many lights you can't really take a good gazing at the sky......
the only chupi at night here is the silence.....sometimes i stand up from my pc-chair for a couple of minutes and go to the balcony...and enjoy the silent night :)

am I the only one who prefers overcast days and the night compared to the bright day? I love when its overcast, and cool. I am always fascinated as well with fantasy worlds set in permanent night days........

 my favourite weather...dark cloudy (and if possible cold) days.... i have always loved that.....it suits my mood perfectly :)
and even now that i am feeling superhigh,i still long for this weather..... it is so fascinating

yay im not the only freak in the world  I love the night (not the night life.....;) ) and dark cloudy days are so somber, yet soooooooo relaxing and calming. I love it, I hate bright sunny days, I seriously cant stand them..........

 I live in a fairly small farming town, god knows where the closest forest is, prolly quite far away. I live in the central valley of California, no forests

One of the most incredible sights I have seen was from an airplane.

I was on my first trip to Europe, flying from NYC to Iceland (and then on to Sweden). The stars, the night sky, the hint of the Northern Lights left me transfixed. It was as close to heaven as one could imagine.

I've never seen them quite like that since. It left me with a feeling of awe and wonder.

Some of the more ethereal scenes in the sky are just breathtaking, you really feel like your in another world.

well for me is quite the opposite!
I love blue clear sky and sunshinning!!! I don't like the sun to touch me, but I love to see through my window...
there's nothing like waking up and see that from the window comes a beam of sunlight!!
I love cloudy and rainy days too....but when is three days of constant clouds and rain it just drives me on my nerves!!!

FV, it drove me nuts when I was in Sweden...I lived there during the winter. I was in Stockholm, so there was daylight, however, some days I slept right thru it!

well I'm planning to move there in two yeas....and I fear the weather....I'm from Barcelona so I'm used to sun and hot heather....but well it will worth it BY FAR!!!!!!! :D
