aaaaas busy as opeth has been they come out with this brilliant hypnotic journey of atmospheric metal mastery.the grand conjuration is unpredictable full of surprises but yet keeps its spine.this music is complex its progression its not part two from a previous album.Your not going to get simplicity from opeth they have to much talent.how could anyone compare this song to anything.Put some headphones on close your eyes and listen to this song again you will understand.

nah, it's not that surprising at all...maybe surprising that they'd keep playing the same riff when they would normally go to another riff, but regardless, tis a good song
when I think of keep playing the same riff I think of wreath. Now wich song sounds more repetitive.

Music in general is based on being repititious.
The new track does seem to use less riffs than usual, but i'll have to consult the Opeth songwriting handbook before making a valid statement :erk:

I don't get this whole Opeth riff repetition thing people go on about. They do repeat riffs (like all bands), but they do it in a tasteful way. Most of the time there is singing on top of it, and what do you expect to happen, have like 4 riffs changes every minute while the vocals are doing the same verse? The only time i think i really felt like i had to bear the repetition was "wreath" and the beginning of "master's apprentices." other than that, i think they do a really good job of spreading their riffs apart.

You pretty nailed it here...you even named the songs i would have named in this context.
