a just-for-fun mix (testing some new software)

Hey!
So I did this for fun, it's an older deftones track, around the fur:

The drums were programmed in cubase and have DFH 1 samples.
I used amplitube on the guitars, there's 4 layers of guitars recorded. The tone is going for something like on the original...
There's also a fake bass in there, I recorded the bassline on my guitar, pitchshifted it and sent it through amplitube.
The whole thing has a T-racks master.

just for fun and trying out these stuff. what do you think?

That snare is a bit horrible, might want to use less reverb on that.QUOTE]

yeah, I actually didn't put any reverb on it, but I noticed how 'roomy' the sample was too. but this was the snare that came closest to the original, oh well. thanks :)

What did you use for the guitars? It sounds unique, but you can hear it clipping. I like the tone but it distorts too much. Drums sound decent except for the snare... Good mix though.

Yeah I definately noticed the clipping, but it's definately a better sound than I could've got out of amplitube. That's the funny thing, I used that exact same preset posted there and it sounds nothing like your recording.

Are you using a preamp of sorts for your guitar? I'm a tad disadvantaged right now on the financial side, so I'm stuck with directly plugging the guitar into the PC.

No I just plugged in directly. I also silenced the parts were there's a pause, because the noise the plugin added was quite loud.
