A little about yourself

That's fascinating. I had no idea.
My box set has a number on each spine in a very different order.

When Wagner started writing his Ring Cycle he found he had to keep writing prequel after prequel to tell the story as he wanted. Experiencing it in published order makes no sense. (Some would argue that experiencing it at all makes no sense...)

I decided to read it in chronological order:

The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
The Horse and His Boy
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle

Before I started, I actually did a fair amount of research and read the arguments for publication order vs. chronological order. I like things linear, so I think I picked the order that worked best for me :D

The order your box set has would be the chronological order of the books (as SeaStorm posted), an order that C.S. Lewis himself said they should probably be read in. I strongly disagree, as if you read it in chronological order it gives unnecessary spoilers or foreshadowing, because whether the author intended it or not, the published order (or usually the written order) is the way the books are supposed to be read. The fact that they wrote them in that order is evidence enough.

Similar to how Ted Dekker says you can read the Paradise books in any order. The only thing is, that would be completely stupid, because reading Sinner before Saint would completely ruin Saint.

Don't always listen to authors; even ones that you very much admire. Read the published order. You're not SUPPOSED to know who Professor Kirke is when you read The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. If you do, it's not nearly as mysterious or cool!

In June 2004 the Theocracy forum was moved from the old one to this one here at ultimatemetal.com. I can't remember if the old one was directly under the domain theocracymusic.com or at metalages.com...
As a member of the old forum of course I followed Theocracy and joined this new one which was opened in June 2004 - but my account says I already joined in April 2004! :err: Strange...

Oops, I forgot to reply to this. Interesting! I don't think I came over from that one - I can't remember any other forum but this one. At least now I know I came in during the second wave of forum fans :loco:

Anyone else from the initial forums still with us here at Ultimate Metal? I'll soon be writing up a little mini (very mini) history of my time on this forum - in observation of my upcoming 1000th post - so I will incorporate that :)

The Magician's Nephew was written last, and published second-to-last. If you really want to enjoy Narnia, I strongly suggest reading it in the publication order:

-The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
-Prince Caspian
-The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
-The Silver Chair
-The Horse and his Boy
-The Magician's Nephew
-The Last Battle

Tis true! :dopey:

I didn't remember either. The first threads in this forum talk about the move from the old forum to this one.
Though I do not find any registration e-mail for the former Theocracy forum in my mails, I'm pretty sure, I must have been a member.
I've followed Theocracy a while before the debut was released and I found an e-mail about Theocracy I wrote to Deron in November 2003 introducing myself as Snert from the Christian Metal Realm.

I remember a time (must have been 2004) I checked the forums of Divinefire and I think Theocracy frequently hoping for news about their upcoming debut albums.

I'm not very well read so to speak. I never enjoyed reading as a kid so I never read lord of the rings or narnia, although it is on my to-do list. A majority of my time now is spent studying chemistry.

I personally love The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe because it was my first C.S Lewis book.

I hate it when people say they love the book because they saw the movie.

I am currently reading "Magician's Nephew" to my 7 year-old son. But my all time favorite is "The Last Battle". When I get to the end of that book I can barely read it with out bawling.

I have a paperback set that I bought when I was 11 or 12, which makes it about 30 years old. I believe in reading them in the published order. My daughter argues with me to this day that TMN is book #1. On a related note, they supposedly are going to skip right to this book for the next movie.

Yep. The producer of the last movies mentioned to his father that he secured funds for the production of TMN... unfortunately I believe it was the day before he died (apparent drug overdose or something). I'm a little annoyed that they're not doing The Silver Chair next, but hey, they're making TMN as a tribute to the guy. :/

I just hope they don't wreck like they did Voyage of the Dawn Treader.

I've never read The Magician's Nephew. It sounds like I should remedy that.

Anyway, I'm James. I'm 34 and currently live in the Northeast U.S., though I was born and raised in the Southeastern part of the country. I've been visiting this forum on and off since May of 2010. I tend to change usernames periodically - I've posted here under Scarred621 and at least a couple of other nicks. I'll probably ditch this one eventually too.

I'm a former agnostic who once thought that all Christian music was nothing more than inferior knockoffs of it's secular counterparts. Theocracy changed that perception. I found Theocracy through last.fm shortly before I first came here. One of their songs was listed as similar to a song from another band I like (for some reason, I think it was Symphony X, but I'm not sure), so I listened to Laying the Demon to Rest and based on liking that bought Mirror of Souls. I've been a huge fan ever since. Theocracy's music has really meant a lot to me, and it discovered it at a time when I needed something like that in my life. Looking back on it now, I have a strong suspicion that it was no coincidence that I found it when I did.
