well i think ermj was the only one that said 'I FUCKING HATE RHAPSODY!'. i dont particularly care for them either, but not as much as her haha.

but no Wisconsin cheese can beat Rhapsody cheese 
live they were one of the worst bands I've ever seen, and musically... well, that's another issue, since it's all matter of musical taste 
for me, they repeat themselves too often. to me, they sound as if they have one melody line and song idea and vary only the keyboard-swamp in which everything is sentenced to drown, not to speak about that exaggeratedly egomanic guitar-wanking :s 
but again, it's all a matter of musical preference I'm sure many ppl. would never listen to music that I like a lot, saying it's boring or something

Im neutral to Rhapsody, bordering on disliking them. They come up with some intersting guitar/keyboard melodies but the cheese factor really outweighs it, especially all the pretentious wanking that they do....blah.

ive never heard them, so who am i to prejudge. but if they are so widely disliked i might not download some of their stuff
Rhapsodys faster songs KICK ASS, but when they have those long album breaks, where they have slow songs and a narrator and such, those suck. What they need to do I leave those out, and make a pure PM album.

yeh. i hate all that lame fantasy bullshit where just have narrating and shit. musically they're pretty good, but then they break into the typical powermetal chorus and shit with the stupid lyrics about elves and swords. they could be good if they just changed a few things.

I understand where a lot of you are coming from... but a lot of bands are like that... look at Bal-Sagoth, they have some crazy lyrics, a lot like power metal.... it depends on how people look at cheesy... i mean, to me emporer is a waste of time, they have nothing to say, and nothing to hear...

Yeah the lyrics dont bother me incredibly. But Rhapsody doesnt have the crunch I like in my power metal. Dream Evil is just as focused on dragons and swords, but they have a really heavy metal feel to em and some great riffs. Rhapsody is too heavy on the keyboard melody for me, even though I absoultely love keyboards. Power metal usually has to have a balance of good crunching riffs and that trademark keyboard/guitar melody. Nocturnal Rites, Labyrinth, Blind Guardian, Angel Dust etc.

Bal-Sagoth make my fall over laughing. But they do have cool riffs. The best is when the vocals kick in after the narrators stops:
Narrator: ...And the elves finally found the magic boot!
