speaking for a friend here but im also curious

he's thinking of buying a pod x3live

How are they as interfaces?
will it be better than buying say a saffire 24?

running vocals through them?
apparently this can be done, searched youtube didnt find any examples of it being done, id imagine the sound is kinda dull out of them. How are they with vocals?

also if my mate was to buy one
would he want to run the pod straight to the pc or buy an interface to run it through first?

:I hate asking for friends because it just sounds like im too shy to ask myself and am using a coverup

Not sure what spec the POD X3 Live has but I definately wouldnt run vocals through it unless you were after distortion effects or something. I occasionally chuck bass DI tracks through mine to crunch them up for additional distortion tracks but thats about it. If you're talking about interface in terms of for any instrument then Id say forget it, reserve it for guitar (assuming you can direct to pc the X3 Live) and get a dedicated all-round interface for the PC. I personally am not so keen on some of the other stuff Line 6 have done. I think that the heads and cabs suck big time so I'd make sure to try before you buy because as much as I like Pods Line 6 have made some right shit in their time.

You can use them for vocals. The preamps sims aren´t great, but you can bypass them and use other plugin. Search for the user Splatt88, he used a PODx3 to track vocals and it sounds great.

You can use X3 as interface through USB. It has ASIO drivers.

Yeah I know track means recording, but are you looking to use it as just a normal vocal pre or to crunch up your vocal tracks slightly? Ive never really thought of using line6 gear for recording vocals. To be honest for the price of this stuff you can probably get an actual decent preamp or a decent dedicated interface so it seems pointless. Arent they like 400 quid? Id get the saffire 24 before the pod live imho although it depends what you want to do with it.
