How true!! Especially when you learn it by reading Marcel Proust!!:puke: Me and some other people in my class read this book in German and even then we couldn't understand it.. And somethins else: this Swann must have had an absolutely boring life!!

Marcel Proust!
one of the most boring writers in the world..
when our teacher gave us his book as a homework, ý gave the book to my mother, she read and tell me what happens in the book hehehehheheheheh

(ý hope u can understand what ý write, coz my english sucks :)

i think france has some of the most boring author in the world. i was forced to read some book during my scolarity which were really really boring. then they wonder why young people don't want to read Zola or Proust, and prefer to read Spiderman or The Simpsons :)

How long did it take her to tell you about it? Two minutes? there´s realy NOTHING happening in "Swanns life"!

My favourite autors are the english writers of the victorian period. Like Oscar Wilde. That man was a genius! :) I also love "Dracula" although Stokers other books are not realy good..

What about Victor Hugo and Voltaire? Two French genius's.

victor hugo was a genius but it's really hard to stay concentrated on his books, they're really 'heavy'. but he wrote really cool poetry and made some wonderful drawnings.

voltaire was pretty cool too, but nothing compared to victor hugo for sure.

but french culture holds shitloads of boring authors, Flaubert, Chateaubriand, Zola, etc etc...

Funny you should mention that! I wrote my thesis last year on Oscar Wilde. It was titled 'Oscar Wilde and symbolic philanthropy'.

It discussed Oscar Wilde and his links to socialism through his writing.

And I think I've written at least two essays on Dracula in my undergraduate studies. One of them involved 'The Picture of Dorian Gray', also by Wilde!

Love that shit... love it!

I realy love Wildes "The Importance Of Beeing Ernest" The way how he makes fun of the victorian society is so amusing
For the final exam in English in the gramar school I had to chose three books and that were "Picture Of Dorian Gray", "Dracula" and "Frankenstein" :D Yes, I had a realy cool english teacher

Don't shit on the French. They've got Arthur Rimbaud. As the lumbermen aphorize, "Nuff Said!!"
