After almost 20 years, Dave Mustaine has left Megadeth
This sucks! Megadeth were one of my faveorite bands

Here is the official statement:

"During the first week of January 2002, while Megadeth was on hiatus, in Texas, I suffered an injury that caused severe nerve damage to my left arm and hand. It was diagnosed as Radial Neuropathy - specifically, a "compressed radial nerve." My doctors tell me it will take about a year to make as complete a recovery as I can, and even then, we don't know how complete that is going to be. I am working hard with a great team of doctors and physical therapists daily, and God willing, someday I hope to play guitar again.

In the meantime, while I work on rebuilding my arm, I will take this opportunity to reappraise my career and my future. For the time being I have decided to exit Megadeth, and explore other areas of the music business where I might make a contribution without being able to play my instrument.

I have had a terrific time singing and playing for you while I was in Megadeth. I am truly grateful for all of the numerous Gold, Platinum, and Multi-Platinum Records I have been awarded, as well as the many International Record Awards. And I can never thank you, our fans past and present, enough for your loyalty and affection over the years.

My immediate goals now are to do what I can to make something good come out of this terrible situation. First and foremost, I want to use this opportunity to devote more time, energy and attention to my wife Pam and my two children, Justis and Electra. Pam has done a wonderful job carrying the load while I was a long-distance husband and father in the studio or criss-crossing the world on tour, but in terms of being a Gold or Platinum parent, I have a long way to go, and I'm eager to get started.

In closing I would like to depart with the beautiful French words I wrote on the record Youthanasia:
"A tout le monde, a tous mes amis, Je vous aime, Je dois partir."
(To all the world, to all my friends. I love you, I have to leave)

After the album RISK he should of gave up anyway and Let Megadeth rest in peace. It's too bad though that there is no more Megadeth. The way the new Megadeth is now, it really doesn't make a difference too me. Now if it was RUST IN PEACE Megadeth I'd be very upset. Considering my fav players are already gone NICK MENZA, MARTY FRIEDMAN who played a major role in MEGADETH. I don't think the band will be the same ever.

Marty is the reason why RISK sucked. Mustaine IS Megadeth...no one else! THE WORLD NEEDS A HERO was a great METAL album. Did you like it or hear it all (besides the video)??? It's not as good as PEACE SELLS and RUST IN PEACE, but it was a hint of better things to come. I for one will miss the absence of Megadeth from the metal scene. Hopefully in a couple years Dave will get the itch to write new MEGADETH material.

The wolrd needs a hero was ok. But it was not no Rust in peace album or Symphony of Destruction even. Jimmy Degrasso, I don't like at all. Nick Menza should be drumming for them. As for Marty, well Marty blows Dave out of the water with his technical abilities. Rake a listen to Cacophony with Jason Becker. I don't agree with Marty's musical choices though. Same thing goes with Skolnick. Skolnick Ruled. Now look at him.

I'm not sad Megadeth are no more, because like Noel said, it's not 'Rust In Peace'-era Megadeth that broke up. 'Risk' was horrible, and I didn't think much of 'The World Needs A Hero' either'. Or 'Cryptic Writings', or 'Youthanasia'. Megadeth may as well have broke up years ago, from where I'm standing.

BUT I do think it's sad why they broke up. Being told you could never play your instrument again because you busted up your hand? That's fucking horrible.
