Since the ampsims have become fairly good nowadays, I took a small spin with few of 'em to see if one were superior to another.

I think these free ampsims have already surpassed the ampmodels found on many FX processors,
so a huge thanks to all the amazing developers from this forum, you definitely deserve all the credit!! :headbang:

Only 2 guitars with EMG85, HP at 100hz & LP at 12k and a narrow 5db notch at 6k with TSS infront, and no bass this time.

What do you think?

Le456: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1147572/AmpSimTest - Le456.mp3

TSE X30: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1147572/AmpSimTest - TSE X30.mp3

Kind of hard to judge man, they all sounded killer! If I had to choose, I'd say either LE456 or TSE X30 as I prefer the snarl that Engl amps are known for. That in no way means SoloC sucks, as anyone can hear from the clips SoloC sounds really nice.

Le456 and TSE are the best sounding. The TSE sounds better without a tubescreamer.

You should do a test with the amps alone and we'll see whitch one wins ;)

I'm releasing very soon a new update for the X30, removed some unstable filters that caused artifacts/aliasing, improved tube algorithm (noise reduction), and a little easier on the cpu :p

and yeah, the input stage of the X30 is not so different from the tone you get from a tubescreamer, so it's a little redundant .. (Altough I'm trying to model the e530 with this one, I have done some custom improvements to the low-end response/picking response that I don't think sounds too good on many commercial ampsims ..)

Thanks for the responses guys :) Personally I find the Le456 and X30 most pleasing from those 3 samples, and equally good as a plugin.
From the samples I'd probably choose Le456 because it kinda seems balancing nicely between SoloC and X30.

I barely touched the surface of tonal possibilities of those sims, especially when the choice for IR's seems neverending,
so I chose the easiest & fastest way for a test, by just avoid making them too middy or scooped. Don't know if I succeeded though, heh!

I used the same IR and TSS settings on the samples, and I also noticed that X30 sounded great without TSS too!

Of course these can't compete with real amps, but I will gladly give the new versions a go when they are available :)

Le456 sounds best to me. All tracks are lacking bass for my taste though.

Yeah, there is no bass at all because I just wanted to compare the ampsims, should've probably left the drums
out as well, but I thought they would give some context to the riffs..

To be honest, I didn't tweak much the X30, so that tells how good sim it is :)
I'm sure the lowend is easily adjustable giving it abit more time.

Any thoughts on drums btw?
