I hope Mike gets a whiff of this, because when they play at IIT Madras (Chennai), India in January they'll be surprised to see that the actual Opeth fans, barring a few - will not be at the gig. Why, you ask?

Well, IIT is not putting the tickets up for sale. they are printing about 2-2500 tickets. Majority of this will go to the IIT students, folks like me have no choice. This apart, there are rumours this is going to be a seated concert. moreover, the "mosh" area will have professors, parents, sponsors, etc sitting and clapping their confused hands while Opeth do what they do best.

In their defense IIT is putting up a 'contest' to win tickets to the concert http://www.saarang.org/2009/contests . I'd like to have access to tickets, its not like i don't want to pay for it, I'd much rather pay than enter a contest and win them! I'm venting here 'cause the concert is a few weeks away and there hasn't been any word on tickets. I want to see Opeth in the flesh, I'm cutting corners so i can pay whatever the amount to ride 370kms (I live in Bangalore, a fair distance from Madras) to see Opeth.

All I ask of you, Mike, is to ensure Opeth fans - those who deserve to see the band get to see the magnificence that is Opeth. I hope you understand.

for the same reason i didn't see blackfield live in greece last sunday...i wanted to pay for that but they told me that only way to watch the live was to participate in a competition.so did i and 3 days before the show they send me a sms to my phone and told me "sorry,you are no lucky this time" omfg!death to all of you bastards...
